There come moments in life when a person needs to make serious decisions: decisions that change his entire life path. Sometimes these decisions need to be made when the person is still in the age of a child.

Study at a nearby school, where all your friends study, or go to a school with higher requirements?

Should I quit sports school, because you need to seriously prepare for the final exams at a general education school?

After school — go to work or enter the Institute? In which?

After graduating from the Institute of Elections, there is even more: go to graduate school or into life, go to work in state institutions or in private firms, work in a specialty or where they pay, work for someone or create their own business, get married or postpone …

How to make decisions in these situations?

Alternatively, you can not listen to anyone and solve all issues only on your own, guided sometimes by your mind, sometimes by your heart, and sometimes by making random choices, calling it your intuition. Another option is to rely on the opinions of others. Which is better, which is better?

Here the answer is not obvious: it all depends on WHO the particular person and WHO are those around. What are the values ​​and what is the level of the individual, in what society does he live?

If this is an alcoholic or a maniac who has lost his human appearance, then it is better and more correct for him to start living with someone else’s mind, if his own mind is not enough.

Relying on the opinions of others, if it stands for “listening to random people”, is stupid: it should be taken into account that there are not so many really smart people, and experts qualify the moral state of modern Russian society as “moral degradation”. If you consult with a specialist who will determine your abilities, take into account your inclinations and give you a recommendation that takes into account the situation on the market, this option is much more interesting. Bottom line: if it is possible to turn to knowledgeable people who are professionals in such things, it is better to turn to them.

And if there is no one to consult with in a reasonable way? How to make your own decision: listen to your heart? It is possible, but even more useful is to turn on the head.

It turns out that people make decisions in surprisingly diverse ways… Practically oriented people often make decisions in the simplest way — simply by asking smart people or turning to other sources of reasonable information, while people with mystical moods are looking for answers from the signs of the World or connecting to the energy-information field… Those who are fond of the psychology of the unconscious load a question into themselves and after some time find the answer in themselves: as a rule, for the person himself, it looks completely convincing.

A conscious choice of life path requires a high level of personal development. But do our children, declaring their desire, always realize their real desires and aspirations? Do we remember what role moods play here, random emotions, the desire to just leave here, or the desire to simply do everything in defiance? Is this an indicator of awareness, a high level of personal development? The personal choice of a human child is usually less conscious than the choice that a wise adult will make for him in caring for him.

Free education, as a rule, prides itself on the fact that it always leaves the choice of a life path to the pupil himself: «The choice of one’s life path is the natural right of the pupil himself.» Whom he should become: a locksmith or a businessman — he decides for himself. In comparison with the authoritarianism of adults, who have in mind only their plans and do not look closely at the interests and abilities of children, such a position of free education inspires both understanding and respect.
