How much should a child sleep at 2 months, pediatrician consultation, during the day, at night
In a dream, a newborn baby spends most of his time. His physical and emotional development depends on this. It is important for parents to ensure that this process is correct and to see if the baby spends enough time in a dream.
How much should a child sleep: norms at 2 months
At this age, sleep is sensitive, superficial. Through a nap, the little one hears everything that happens around, listens to the voices. He is very sensitive to the presence of his mother nearby. If she is close, the baby is calm and safe. If it is not there, then often the child simply cannot sleep.
The sleep period is short. If the child wakes up after half an hour, this is normal. Such short dreams should be at least 3-4 times. Twice a day, he falls asleep for 1,5-2 hours. This usually happens at lunchtime and in the evening.
It is natural for a baby to sleep while breastfeeding. You do not need to wake him up, or wean him and put him in the crib.
Give him the opportunity to determine the duration of the rest himself. On his mother’s chest, he feels peaceful, calm and serene. When the time comes, his sleeping and feeding patterns will change, and while he is only 2 months old, there is no better place for him than his mother’s breast.
At a consultation with a pediatrician, you can hear that a child at this age sleeps 16 hours a day. This does not mean at all that he should continuously sleep these hours in his crib. They are made up of short and long rest periods for a full day.
At night, the baby is calmer, by this age he should already have an established regime. After 2-3 hours, he wakes up to feed, and then falls asleep again.
Some kids sleep continuously for 6 hours, but this is not entirely correct, although it is convenient for parents. At 2 months, there should be no breaks in feeding for more than 3-4 hours. Therefore, if he sleeps for a long time, you should still take the baby and offer him the breast.
Make sure your child is not awake for more than 2 hours. If he “goes overboard”, the body begins to produce stress hormones. He becomes capricious, restless, cannot sleep in any way. In this state, sometimes even feeding cannot calm him down and make him relax.
So that such problems harmful to the baby do not arise, follow the regime and put it in time. To help him fall asleep, swing in your arms, walk around the room, ventilate the room. Mom’s voice has a calming effect on the baby – sing him a lullaby, you don’t need to know them, think of it yourself.
