How much meat should you eat?
The WHO’s warning is food for thought. Meat lovers who care about their health have a nut to crack. How can I cut down on meat? How much can you eat it per day? Or maybe there is really nothing to be afraid of?
We definitely have something to be afraid of. A meta-analysis of 10 studies found that consuming as much as 100 g of red meat a day may increase the risk of cancer by 17%.
Processed red meat is associated with colon cancer, as well as cancer of the pancreas, stomach and prostate.
Independent, academic research organization – Global Burden of Disease Project estimated that a diet rich in red meat is responsible for 34. deaths caused by cancer.
How many grams of meat can you eat per day?
Everything in moderation – meat is a good source of protein, B vitamins and iron. However, eating red meat daily should not be the case. They should be eaten no more than 1-2 times a week. However, referring to the latest report, I decided to illustrate how much 100 g of processed meat is, so that each of us can assess the composition of our diet.
What meat to choose?
3 pork sausages
If you choose a sausage, choose the one with as much meat as possible (preferably not less than 80%) and without mechanically separated meat (MSM). It is also good if the sausage does not contain preservatives, such as sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, and the list of additives is as short as possible.
2 breaded pork chops
Did you know that one breaded pork chop can be about 400 kcal? Replace harmful frying with baking. The amount of meat will not change, but in the case of pork loin you can save up to 300 kcal!
2 minced cutlets
When preparing minced cutlets, add the bran and wheat germ instead of breadcrumbs, fry the cutlets also in a little fat.
6 small slices of pork ham
The meat content is the first thing we should pay attention to. Really good hams have around 95% meat in their composition. Of course, the more it is, the better. The shopping cart should also not include hams labeled ‘high-performance’ and with the addition of preservatives, phosphates and carrageenan.
2 thin pork neck
Pork neck is fatty meat. Try to choose pieces with as little visible fat as possible. If you are grilling, remember about healthy grilling principles.
1 Silesian sausage
Choose good quality sausages with the highest possible meat content, no unnecessary additives and mechanically separated meat (MSM). It is also worth looking for coarsely ground sausage, there will be less chance of ‘smuggling’ undesirable ingredients.
11 slices of Krakowska sausage
When buying Krakowska Sausage, choose the one with the highest meat content, without monosodium glutamate, polyphosphates, carrageenan and preservatives.
