How much is your time worth?

When you are made a business proposal that at first glance seems profitable, do not rush to agree to the announced conditions. To begin with, sit down and think, or rather, calculate how much your time is worth. Blogger and investor Mila Kolokolova tells how to learn to appreciate your efforts and why hours and minutes are more expensive than rubles.

Have you ever wondered why rich people value time the most? The answer is simple: because they know that thanks to this resource they can increase their income. A successful person uses every minute to achieve his goal. Every day and hour brings him closer to his dream.

Rich people are very busy, they always have a lot of urgent things to do, every day they solve dozens of the most difficult tasks, make important decisions. They are completely absorbed in their work and do not intend to be distracted by all sorts of trifles and meaningless conversations. For them, every moment matters.

They take only what makes them more successful and leads to an increase in well-being. They will never waste time and energy on uninteresting and unpromising work. But for the sake of what will bring success, money and satisfaction, they are ready to work for days. This is how a person realizes his potential: he is engaged in activities that allow him to achieve his goals and make his dreams come true.

Neither 3, nor 5 thousand saved rubles will change the financial situation

Lifetime is the only finite resource. Money is just a matter of knowing how to earn it. The poor, unlike the rich, value money more than anything. This is the highest value for them. No money, no nothing! As a rule, they are sure that everything in their life depends not on themselves, but on external circumstances and conditions. All they have to do is humbly accept the rules of the game. They spend time endlessly talking about troubles and problems, thereby only multiplying them, and do not believe in themselves at all. They spend all their energy on doing inefficient, low-paid work.

Often, in order to save 3-5 thousand rubles, people take on what they do not know how, or begin to master a new specialization. Of course, if this is a hobby or in the future you are going to make money on it, then this option is quite possible. But if you are doing it only for the sake of economy, then the idea is completely useless. Neither 3 nor 5 thousand saved rubles will change the financial situation, and the invaluable resource of time will be wasted.

Save time and delegate business to professionals

Even if you are among those who try to control literally everything, sooner or later you will have to face the understanding that you are not omnipotent. The ability to delegate authority is an important skill that will help free up time resources and achieve better results. Entrust what you are incompetent to specialists. Let them create websites, make repairs and deliver packages. You will devote this time to doing what you love or making money in an area in which you can be called a real pro.

Once at the training, I asked the participants to perform an exercise, it was necessary to tear a banknote. And what do you think? Not everyone was able to do this — they swore, shouted and even cried. This suggests that most people experience a colossal dependence on money. An adequate perception and understanding that money is just a tool to achieve goals helps to overcome this dependence.

How much are your efforts worth?

In order to learn to value time and start delegating authority, you need to find out how much your time is worth. Be prepared for the fact that the numbers may upset you. Once upon a time, when I found out how much an hour of my work costs, it was insulting to tears. Plow, plow, work for days, and earn as a regular manager!

I propose to do the math right now. To do this, write down how many hours a day you work, including travel time and preparation for the work day. Multiply by the number of working days per month. Then divide the amount of income by the amount of time spent. This is the cost of one hour of your time.

How do you like the number? What are the feelings? Do you think that everything is fine, or has it become uncomfortable? If you are a cool specialist with extensive experience, you work around the clock, but earn 150-200 rubles per hour, then your efforts are not particularly appreciated. It’s just the horse’s job.

What is the way out of the situation? It is necessary to increase the cost of the hour and get rid of the work that does not bring income. Every time you start a project, consider whether the effort spent on its implementation is worth the money you receive. You need to appreciate your work and take good pay for it.

If you studied a lot, improved your skills, took courses, the return should be appropriate. You invested in yourself, gained valuable experience, which you can now share. Such work should be adequately paid. If your hour is worth little, it’s time to think: why do you underestimate yourself so much, why don’t you strive for more? Are you content with little?

Of course, if this situation suits you, it is your right. But if not, then go for it. Your present is the most opportune moment. Make the decision to earn more and increase the value of an hour of your time. Make a plan for how to do it and follow it. If you don’t know something, learn, read, get advice, ask for help. Be active: act, and do not sit still waiting for a miracle. He won’t. Taking care of yourself is the best thing you can do right now.

Time is always more valuable than money. This is capital, and finite. And it can also be invested. What? Delegate unloved and time-consuming tasks, paying for it, and use the freed time for joy and pleasure.
