Good morning, I received it less than a month ago referral for examinationand more precisely, it is about breast ultrasound. The lack of time and available appointments immediately after I received my referral made me postpone it a bit. Now I wonder if my referral for the examination is still valid and if I can easily sign up for an appointment in a month – such a waiting time. In general, I wonder if the test referral has any validity period?
Probably it should not be so, since the queues for examinations are endless and the first possible date is three months after receiving the referral for the examination. It would be a little pointless if I had to re-enroll in a specialist, wait for the appointment, and ask for another referral. However, nothing will surprise me anymore in this country and with such an organization. Anyway, please let me know how much there is valid referral for examination? Or maybe it also depends on the type of research planned? If necessary, I will probably do this test privately, because I really don’t want to wait anymore. Thank you. Regards.

Madam, in case imaging tests no specific time frame has been established validity of the referral. In theory, a referral is valid as long as there is a reason for a particular test. In the case of breast ultrasound, especially if cancerous changes are suspected, the referral is important all the time, especially since, unfortunately, the queues are quite long. As for other tests, for example, a referral for laboratory tests, i.e. blood tests, is valid for 3 months. So in answering your question, referral for ultrasound there is no validity period, but with a long waiting time, it is worth considering doing such a study privately.
