A single mother in Russia is a woman who gave birth without being married, or more than 300 days after the divorce. This category also includes unmarried mothers who have adopted a child.
How much does a single mother get
A separate type of material assistance for this segment of the population is not provided. Single mothers are entitled to the same benefits and payments as everyone else.
These include the following categories:
- Maternity allowance. This is a kind of compensation for non-working hours before and after childbirth, when a woman is disabled. It can only be obtained by working and officially registered under the labor code persons who have both Russian and foreign citizenship. The amount of the benefit depends on the average earnings for the last 2 years. If a woman has twins or two babies are adopted, the allowance is calculated for each of them.
In some regions, there may be additional payments that are dealt with by the local government. Their size depends on the capabilities of the regional budget. You need to ask about their availability at the social security office at the place of residence.

Employed women receive all payments from their place of work. If a pregnant woman does not work, she needs to collect the following documents:
