How much cottage cheese can you give a child: advice to moms and dads, per year, 2 years
Cottage cheese is important in the nutrition of a child, starting from 6 months of age (it is not recommended to introduce it into the diet before). There are norms for the daily consumed amount of the product. It is worth giving advice to moms and dads not to deviate from the WHO recommendations, otherwise it may harm the child.
How much cottage cheese can you give a child
When the baby is 6 months old, fermented milk products can be introduced into his diet. First, they give kefir, and if the body has accepted it well, the next in turn is cottage cheese. Use special foods for baby food with the age of the baby.
You should start with one teaspoon, doubling the amount every day until you reach 30 g. If you use regular curd, it should be diluted in baby kefir to a soft gruel.
Milk protein allergy is not uncommon in children. Therefore, at the very first manifestations of an allergic reaction, you should stop using cottage cheese in the diet of the crumbs. Be sure to tell your pediatrician about this.
If no pathological reactions followed and the child’s body takes 30 g of cottage cheese a day well, then keep this volume of the product for up to 9 months. When the child reaches this age, the amount can be increased up to 50 g daily. Combined with 150 ml. kefir is considered a complete meal that can be used for breakfast or dinner.
The use of cottage cheese by children over a year old
In 1-2 years, the daily rate of 50 g of cottage cheese remains. This amount contains a sufficient amount of useful elements for a ten-year-old child, and only then you can give 70 g. Therefore, you do not need to increase the dosage ahead of time, you should not overload the digestive system.
In some cases, deviations from the norm are not harmful. For example, if a child aged 1-2 years does not receive cottage cheese every day, but 3 times a week, then the amount can be increased to 100 g. On the remaining days, feeding can be replaced with kefir or baby yogurt.
To diversify the baby’s diet, you can prepare dishes from cottage cheese for him – dumplings, casseroles, spring rolls, cheese cakes. It goes well with dried fruits – raisins, prunes, dried apricots. Or add berries – blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries.
The lack of a sufficient amount of cottage cheese in a child’s diet can threaten a calcium deficiency in the body. This can be noticeable in the condition of the child’s teeth and the dentist will immediately notice it. There are other manifestations of lack – poor sleep, emotional overexcitation, seizures.
