The special act allows refugees from Ukraine free access to health care. Currently, our care is used by over 1800 people of Ukrainian nationality. Almost half of them are children – said Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska on Monday.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Health informed on Polish Radio 24 that the largest number of refugees who benefit from healthcare are in Podkarpacie. He assured that the Ministry of Health was monitoring the situation.
“If necessary, we will move these patients deep into the country, so that access to health care for the inhabitants of the region will be as it was before the war” – he added.
He pointed out that the special act allows refugees from Ukraine free access to health care. «Today our care is used by over 1800 people of Ukrainian nationality. Almost half of them are children, »he said.
As he added, the situation is quite difficult and Poland incurs considerable costs. As he said, according to the data of the National Health Fund, one million refugees are needed monthly for health services, prescription reimbursement about PLN 200 million.
“I cannot imagine that the European Union would not join us in helping refugees,” he said.
Kraska was also asked about the train that would be able to transport the wounded from Ukraine. «We have prepared a special train equipped so that it could transport injured people from Ukraine. Ukraine has not yet indicated that such transport is needed, so we used this train to transport children, mainly oncological patients, »Kraska replied. (PAP)
