In the first days of 2021, 26 cases and suspected cases of influenza were detected in Poland. This is half as much as in the last week of 214 and three times less than in the corresponding period in 2020. What are the flu incidence statistics?
The epidemiological report prepared by the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene shows that in the first seven days of 2021, 26 cases of flu and suspected flu were detected. The most cases were diagnosed in the Mazowieckie voivodship – 6308, the least in Świętokrzyskie – 154. For comparison, in the last week of 2020 (December 23-31.12.2020, 41) 746 cases of illness and suspected influenza were reported.
A year earlier, in the same period, there were as many as 89 cases and suspected cases of influenza – three times more than now. In Medonet, we talked about why this is happening with doctor Krzysztof Pawlak, a resident of family medicine.

From January 1 to January 7, 2021, no deaths were reported from influenza. 61953 and 1685 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported during the same period.
