How many natural childbirth is possible after a cesarean section
Natural childbirth after cesarean is quite possible, but some doctors believe that they are accompanied by increased risks for the mother and baby. There are many arguments in favor of routine delivery, so it is difficult to understand this issue.
Is natural childbirth possible after CS?
CS is a complex surgical operation with a considerable percentage of complications. Natural childbirth allows babies to quickly adapt to the harsh conditions of the outside world. Therefore, it is not surprising that many women strive to have a baby naturally.
Vaginal birth is allowed under the combination of the following conditions:
- horizontal line of the section of the previous CS;
- the absence of any operations on the uterus and obstetric complications;
- planning of delivery in a highly professional medical institution.
The last point is especially important, since in some cases, after trying to give birth on their own, doctors have to resort to emergency surgery.
The doctor may refuse to give a pregnant woman a natural delivery in such cases:
- the mother is over 35 years old;
- overweight;
- fetal weight over 4 kg;
- gestational age more than 40 weeks;
- a short time interval between pregnancies.
Health workers consider each case on an individual basis and only then give a positive or negative answer.
How long after a cesarean section can you give birth on your own?
Every pregnancy after a CS requires careful planning. The ability to conceive returns with the resumption of ovulation, but this does not mean that a woman can safely give birth to a healthy baby.
It takes at least 2 years for a permanent scar to form. The seam itself tightens quickly, but the fabrics along the incision line remain too delicate for a long time. Doctors must determine the condition of the suture and only then give consent for the next pregnancy.
The most favorable time for the birth of the next child is considered to be the period from 3 to 10 years after the COP.
It is also not worth postponing pregnancy for a long time, since the tissues become less elastic over the years, and there is also a high risk of a difficult course of childbirth.
Successful natural childbirth after CS is possible in 65% of all cases. But this statement only applies to women who have undergone no more than one caesarean section. If there were more than 2 surgical interventions, it is very dangerous to give birth naturally, since no doctor can vouch for the course of such a birth.
