Hello, my husband and I are trying to have a baby. We’ve been trying for a long time with negative results. So I decided to start a calendar of fertile days, we also bought ovulation tests. However, I wonder how many days after the period you can get pregnant? Is the calculation of the fertile days reliable and can you rely on it when planning a pregnancy? Or maybe there are several methods for calculating fertile days to get pregnant? Together with my husband, we have been married for 4 years. We have been planning pregnancy for a year and a half. We are both young – I’m 27 and my husband is 29. I’m a bit afraid that the problem lies deeper. We haven’t done any fertility tests.
The gynecologist said she did not see any contraindications that could be attested to by problems with getting pregnant. We try, but more and more we both get nervous. Sometimes I just want to stop trying and just give it up because the nervous atmosphere doesn’t help at all. Other times, however, I want to try and I am looking for it way to calculate fertile days and hence my main question: how many days after my period can I get pregnant? The doctor explains when you can get pregnant after your period
In the book, a woman’s monthly cycle lasts 28 days, it is the time counted between the first day of a given period and the first day of the next period. Monthly bleeding starts the cycle and takes 4-7 days depending on the woman. Ovulation should occur on the 14th day of the cycle and life time of the ovum is 24 hours therefore take this into account and remain fertile for the next day after ovulation occurs.
But fertile days they last longer than 24 hours, because they depend on the viability of the sperm, in which, depending on the source, they are able to survive in the woman’s reproductive tract from 4 to 7 days! For this reason, theoretically, fertile days fall on days 7-15 of the cycle. However, this would be the case in an ideal world, but just as each of us differs externally, we are not identical internally.
To more accurately assess your fertile days, you should observe your body, and more specifically your basal body temperature, cervical discharge and its setting throughout the cycle. The best chance of conceiving a child is having intercourse in the day of ovulation (30-40%). Therefore, it is worth knowing how to recognize it – either with the help of commercial research, available for purchase at any pharmacy, or by examining the above-mentioned factors, or a combination of both methods.
Signs of ovulation found in a physical examination is an increase in basal body temperature measured in the same place throughout the cycle in the same way (in the mouth or vagina) by 0.4-1.0 ° C, clear and stretchy cervical mucus with the appearance of crude ajka protein, and a lowering of the cervix uterus relative to other days of the cycle. Take measurements at the same time every day for several cycles and write down the results in a diary or table. By combining measurements from many months, you can reliably assess your fertile days.
regarding testing for infertility – the indication for carrying out them is trying to get pregnant for a period of one year, and under the statement “trying to get pregnant” the doctor means – min. 3 intercourse a week for one year. Therefore, do not worry if you are not pregnant immediately after trying for a baby.
