Testing in individual provinces. Most tests still in Mazowieckie

According to the Ministry of Health, 5 samples from patients suspected of being infected with the SARS-CoV-647 coronavirus have been tested since the beginning of the pandemic. So far, tests have confirmed 247 infections.

What is the testing like in individual provinces? The first three places invariably belong to the same voivodeships. The largest number of tests detecting SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection was carried out in the Mazowieckie voivodship – 1. The second place is the Śląskie Voivodeship with the result: 147, the third voivodeship with the highest number of tests is Wielkopolskie: 865

The following voivodeships are ranked:

  1. Pomeranian – 468 721
  2. Lesser Poland – 443 680
  3. Lower Silesia – 427 333
  4. Łódź Voivodeship – 384 373
  5. Kuyavian-Pomeranian – 315 215
  6. West Pomeranian Voivodeship – 244 326
  7. Lublin Voivodeship – 225 055
  8. Podlasie – 145 672
  9. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship – 140 115
  10. Świętokrzyskie – 138 369
  11. Subcarpathian Voivodeship – 105 895
  12. Lubusz Voivodeship – 62 233
  13. Opole Voivodeship – 55 175

The number of samples tested is closely related to the number of laboratories located in a given voivodeship. As of November 16, there are 245 of them nationwide. A complete list of laboratories that test samples taken from patients suspected of COVID-19 in individual provinces is published by the Ministry of Health.

Important!

The number of tested samples is not the same as the number of people surveyed in a given voivodeship. Firstly – one person may have more than one RT-PCR test, secondly, the samples are sent to laboratories in different provinces. The number of samples tested depends on the capacity of the laboratories.

Decrease in the number of tests performed. Ministry of Health translates

Before the weekend, the number of samples tested in Poland oscillated around 50-60 thousand. Meanwhile, on Monday, November 16, the health ministry said that over 35,1 thousand were performed in the last 20 hours. tests for the presence of coronavirus (infection was found in 816 people). Where does this decline come from?

In Polsat News, the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, was asked whether the number of tests performed on a given day is “centrally determined”. He replied that if it were, it would be absurd. He explained that, in line with the strategy, people who have symptoms of infection are referred to the tests, and it is primarily family doctors who decide about it. The number of tests for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 depends primarily on the number of orders issued by GPs. – As the primary care physicians themselves say, they decide who they refer for the test. This is what the coronavirus epidemic looks like. One day these people with symptoms come to the doctor more, the other less – emphasized the spokesman.

  1. What do the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 statistics tell us? [COMMENT]

Andrusiewicz pointed out that Tuesday would be the most reliable day in terms of the number of tests performed. – It is then that we provide information on how many orders from primary care were written out on Monday, because Monday is the first day after the weekend when primary care physicians start referring them for examination – he stressed.

Wojciech Andrusiewicz also referred to the higher percentage of positive tests recorded on Monday, which amounted to almost 60 percent. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health explained that this is a result of the fact that most orders for tests are issued by family doctors who can “with a high degree of probability tell whether someone is infected or not”. – For sure, GPs from primary care have gained more experience in the ongoing assessment of our health. They can see which symptoms may indicate almost one hundred percent certainty that we have the coronavirus. This effectiveness of referring patients to the study is within 60%. – he said (after PAP).

Let us remind you that currently the Ministry of Health implements a policy of testing only symptomatic patients. Consequently, people who, for example, remain in quarantine, after contact with an infected person, are not tested, and even if they show symptoms of the disease (those that are not too bothersome), they do not report for the test, because they are not obliged to do so. . They get sick at home during quarantine. This means that we do not have complete information on how many people are actually infected, how many have had COVID-19 mildly or asymptomatically.
