Today, the home library of a Russian on average has up to 100 books – 44% of respondents*. Every fifth (21%) house has from 100 to 300 books, 9% – from 300 to 500 books, 4% – from 500 to 1000 books, only 2% – more than 1000 books.

Every fifth (21%) house has from 100 to 300 books, 9% – from 300 to 500 books, 4% – from 500 to 1000 books, only 2% – more than 1000 books. Compared to 1997, the proportion of those who have no books at all at home has decreased (from 22% to 16%). More often than others, rural residents report that they do not have a home library (27%). Among those who have at home from 300 to 1000 books, most Muscovites and Petersburgers (39% against 25-29% of residents of other settlements).
