Storage conditions for white and red wines are often similar. However, there are some subtleties. For example, white wines mature faster than red ones. Therefore, the shelf life of white wine rarely reaches ten years.
There are also differences in the shelf life of different varieties of white wine. Dry wines reach maturity in a couple of years. And sweet varieties need more than five years for this.
How long dry white wines keep
Unopened wine will keep for 3-5 days if stored in the refrigerator.
The low temperature will slow down the oxidation process and slightly reduce the taste of the vinegar bacteria.
You can try to close the bottle and pump the air out of it. But, this method is only suitable as a temporary measure, so the wine should be enjoyed immediately.
How long does white wine last without a cork?
When the wine is ripe, there is a reason to open it. Whether it will be a long-awaited event or just a pleasant evening – it is not always possible to drink a bottle of wine right away. Good wine wants to be enjoyed again, so you should take care to save it after opening.
It should be noted right away that already after uncorking the bottle, the wine begins to interact with oxygen – in other words, oxidize.
Wine without a cork will lose its taste in the next few hours after opening the bottle.
Both young and mature wines can make an excellent collection. If you value good wine, you should take care of its storage conditions. The wine rooms have all the necessary conditions for wine aging.
