How long is the caesarean section done: planned, first, second, third
Natural childbirth is a natural birth process. However, sometimes childbirth can be dangerous for the mother or for the child, so doctors prescribe a delivery operation – a cesarean section. Let’s figure out how long a cesarean section is performed and how it happens.
Planned cesarean section for breech presentation, for twins and for other indications
This is an operation for which a woman can prepare in advance.
Here is a list of reasons for a mandatory caesarean section:
the child’s weight is more than 4,5 kg;
previous operations on the cervix;
breech presentation, if the weight of the fetus is more than 3,6 kg or one child of twins is in this position;
the presence of two or more scars on the uterus;
an overly narrow pelvis in a woman in labor;
deformed pelvic bones in a woman in labor;
full placenta previa;
lateral position of the baby.
There are also less serious indications for surgery. The doctor resorts to caesarean if there are several indications from this list: genital herpes, severe myopia, uterine fibroids, tumors of a different nature, gestosis, diabetes mellitus, weak labor.
When is a cesarean section done the first, second, third time?
When to carry out the first cesarean, the doctor decides in each individual situation, however, there are general recommendations on this score. Be sure to take into account the date of the last menstruation, the level of development of the crumbs in the womb and the state of the placenta. Sometimes the doctor decides to start a cesarean as soon as light labor pains start. In this case, it is important to put the mother in childbirth on preservation in advance, so as not to miss the right moment.
Immediately before the operation, the girl is hospitalized to collect all prenatal tests
From the 37th week, the fetus can be considered full-term. Until this moment, it is impractical to carry out a cesarean. However, you should not delay with it, because after the 37th week, childbirth can begin at any second. On average, the 38th and 39th weeks of pregnancy are considered optimal times for a planned caesarean section. Doctors try to find a date that is as close as possible to natural childbirth.
The second time the cesarean is carried out at 38-39 weeks, if everything is in order with the woman in labor. If the scar from a previous operation is in poor condition, the doctor may decide to have the operation a little earlier.
As you can see, a woman after a cesarean can give birth not only twice, but also go to the hospital for the third time. The main thing in this business is to choose a professional doctor and listen carefully to his advice.
