How is endometriosis treated?

The method of treating endometriosis is selected depending on the severity of the symptoms, the desire to have children and the severity of the changes. Patients treated for infertility and those with endometrial cysts are recommended to undergo laparoscopy to remove the cyst and perform chromotubation to confirm the patency of the fallopian tubes. Thereafter, the patient should try to become pregnant. On the other hand, if the patient does not have plans to procreate in the near future, the choice should be between means containing dienogest, GnRh analogues or DTA contraception. In the case of cutaneous endometriosis limited to the subcutaneous tissue and not passing into the fascia and peritoneum, we only use surgical treatment, we do not use pharmacological treatment. Each case of endometriosis should be considered individually, properly qualified to the appropriate stage of advancement and depending on the patient’s needs, especially taking into account her future maternal plans.
