How I prepare Hedgehog tincture from orange and cloves: as cheap as possible, but very unusual

My grandfather made wine from apples, my aunt makes an amazing alcoholic drink from grapes. I am not a fan of store-bought “joking” liquids, I’m too lazy to mess with apples, I don’t grow grapes, so I was looking for a recipe for my tincture. Simple, affordable and delicious.

I received such a letter from my subscriber Alena from Kaliningrad. Hope you enjoy this recipe too.

My acquaintance with the tincture “Hedgehog”

Once, at work, the director shared a recipe for a very original alcoholic drink, I tried to make it and realized that I had found the perfect tincture for myself. It’s called “Hedgehog”. It is prepared very simply and not troublesome, you can beautifully decorate and serve.

Do not think, for its preparation you do not need to crawl through the forest, catching prickly hedgehogs, everything is very simple and affordable. We make our own hedgehogs from oranges. The drink turns out very tasty, fragrant, all my friends like it.

Ingredients:

  • orange – 1pcs;
  • cloves – 10-20 pcs;
  • vodka – 1l.

Preparation of tincture

We take an orange and a clove, wash them. Next, stick cloves into the peel of an orange, make a “hedgehog”. Look what a funny muzzle I get.

When inserting needles, decide for yourself how strong the aroma of cloves you want to get. I love a light spicy taste, so my “Hedgehog” is a little “bald”. You can cover everything with cloves, then the orange flavor will be felt less, and the spicy taste of the cloves will become richer.

Next, we put our orange “hedgehog” in a container with a wide neck so that the “animal” fits, and always with a lid. They lowered a hedgehog into a jar and poured 1 liter of vodka. Everyone, now we are waiting. “Hedgehog” will swim in such an alcohol pool for exactly 1 month. During this time, it will swell and give up all its aromatic properties.

In a month, you can call friends and try. Fragrant drink, beautiful orange-red color is ready.

We pour the tincture into a beautiful decanter. Throw out the hedgehog. By the way, it grows a lot, it can be difficult to get it out of the can, you have to “squeeze” it.

How and with what to serve

Finally, I want to tell you how I serve the tincture on the festive table, and with what dishes it goes well.

The taste of the tincture is spicy-orange, soft. In my experience, I can say that it goes well with the following dishes:

  • meat fried on coals;
  • mackerel baked, fried;
  • pilaf;
  • meat cuts;
  • cheese slices;
  • fruit cuts, (especially with green apples, bananas and kiwi).

We tried it with baked carp, somehow I personally did not like it. My friend loves to gobble up the tincture with cheese and sweets, like expensive cognac.

Hedgehog tincture, as a rule, makes a stunning impression on everyone who tries it. I love to serve it in a beautiful decanter, Soviet times, crystal. Crystal gleams in the light, and in combination with the rich color of the drink looks very rich.

In addition, I always have a decanter on a tray, on which I put the same “hedgehog”, only freshly prepared – it looks great.

Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to your health. Take care of yourself!

One New Year’s Eve, I added three more “hedgehogs” made from tangerines for decoration. It turned out to be a whole family. The design of dishes is a whole science, I like everything to be beautiful, but what do you think, dear friends, is it worth bothering with decoration and a special serving of drinks? Or is it enough just to get a couple of shots?
