How does a dishwasher work – the principle

Despite the increasing popularity, some users doubt the effectiveness of the dishwasher. This is because the operation of the dishwasher is not as clear as the device of the same washing machine.

How can you wash dirty dishes in a contactless way? Read our article and you will find all the answers to your questions.

How PMM works

Regardless of the brand and model of dishwashers – Bosch, Siemens, Ariston, as well as their functional features, the main stages are the same everywhere:

  1. Main sink.
  2. Pre-rinsing.
  3. Final rinse.
  4. Drying.

The algorithm of action is described in the instructions, but it is often very dry and incomprehensible to the average user. We decided to tell you more about the stages that take place inside the PMM after loading the dishes:

  • The user adds detergent, selects a program and presses the start button.
  • The electronic board commands the inlet valve to start drawing water. The diaphragm in the valve is opened by an electronic impulse. The flow enters the system until the pressure switch determines that enough water has been collected.
  • Then the module sends a signal to the heating element to turn on and heat the water in the bunker. Flow heaters allow you to quickly reach the required temperature.

If your model connects to hot and cold water at the same time, then the system mixes the water to the required temperature. The heater is not activated.

How does the machine wash dishes? When the heating is completed, the detergents are mixed, the technique performs:

Main sink. Under high pressure, water enters the rocker arms (top and bottom of the bunker) and flies out of the nozzles at different angles. In addition, the spray arms rotate, which allows you to wash away dirt and food residues from the dishes. Then everything flows into the pan and enters the filter. Then:

  • the waste liquid is filtered;
  • enters the circulation pump;
  • recirculated and with renewed vigor from the inside is fed into the nozzles.

It turns out the water cycle in the dishwasher. The duration of the cycle depends on the set mode, the degree of contamination of the devices.

If the water is turned off while the dishwasher is running, do not be alarmed: nothing will happen to it. When the supply resumes, the technician will continue to wash. If you want to reset the program, see the instructions on how to do it.

If you need to straighten the dishes in the hopper, you can open the PMM during operation: it will simply pause.

Pre-rinsing. When the main dirt is washed off the plates, the technique proceeds to rinsing. Before this, the waste liquid goes to the drain, and clean water is poured in to rid the appliances of detergent residues.

In many Bosch models, “Electrolux” is built-in turbidity sensors. The rinse will be repeated until the water runs clear.

Final rinse. Rinse aid is mixed with hot water, and the final processing of the dishes takes place.

Then comes drying.

How to check if the program has ended or not? To do this, look at the operation indicator on the control panel. If the machine is equipped with a display, then it will show the time until the end of the cycle.

Drying. There are two main types of drying:

  • Convection or natural. After washing, the hopper door opens automatically, releasing hot steam. Air at room temperature penetrates into the chamber, which allows the dishes to be dried by convection. The method is not expensive, since electricity is not used in this case.
  • Turbo dryer. A special fan is installed in the chamber. The heating element heats the air, and the fan blows it into the bunker. The process is fast, at the output you get completely dry appliances.

The end of the cycle is signaled by an audible signal or beam on the floor. The beam is red during the cycle, and green at the end.

Important! Other color variations of the beam or time projection are also possible.

You have roughly described how it works. But in order to understand better, you need to know where which part is located. In the picture we will show how the PMM is arranged from the inside:

  1. Basket for dishes.
  2. Door closer for smooth opening/closing of the door.
  3. Rocker.
  4. Thermal sensor.
  5. The filter is a “glass” of coarse cleaning.
  6. Drain hose.
  7. pressure valve.
  8. Drain pump.
  9. Capacity for water.
  10. Leak protection device.
  11. Electronic module.
  12. circulation block.
  13. Capacitor.
  14. Compartment for conditioner.
  15. Door lock.
  16. Compartment for detergents.
  17. Intake valve.
  18. Door seal.
  19. Salt compartment.
  20. Flow heating element.
  21. Intake hose.

What is needed for the efficient operation of the machine, consider below.

How to prepare equipment for work

It has been proven in laboratory conditions that the dishwasher allows you to wash even heavily soiled utensils. Of course, if you put a pan with a three-day layer of burning, it will not be completely washed off. But thanks to the pressure jets, the dirt flakes off and can be easily removed by hand.

Chosen people play an important role detergents. Before starting the cycle, do the following:

  • pour special salt into the compartment in the bunker pan;
  • Pour in the rinse aid and place the detergent tablet in the dedicated compartment.

Thanks to water recirculation, appliances use significantly fewer liters than you would with a manual wash. And if you use the half load mode, then the resource consumption will decrease by 30%.

A dishwasher makes housework easier, frees up time and takes care of your appliances efficiently. It can process children’s accessories and toys. After all, it is impossible to wash dishes by hand at a temperature of 70 degrees.
