Physicians pay special attention to such factors as long-term and frequent asthma attacks, an inflammatory process in the lungs, which is of a chronic nature. Dependence on hormonal drugs, heart or lung failure are also serious complications in bronchial asthma, which may be the basis for disability.
As a rule, with asthma there are no sharp jumps in the deterioration of the body, the disease progresses slowly. Thanks to modern medicines, asthma attacks are stopped for a long time, and the patient does not experience any complaints for a long time. From the moment of the disease, more than one year passes before it becomes impossible to lead an active lifestyle and work as before. The patient is necessarily registered in his clinic, periodically undergoing examination in a hospital.
If you decide to apply for a disability, start by talking to your doctor. He may suggest a different treatment regimen or recommend consulting with specialists from other areas of medicine. Even if, in the opinion of the doctor, there are no grounds for determining at least the third group of disability, he cannot refuse to issue a referral for a medical and social examination.
To pass a medical commission, get a special form from a pulmonologist or therapist, where the results of the examination of doctors are entered. The required minimum includes culture and sputum analysis, urinalysis, ECG, spirography, x-ray of the lungs, general and biochemical blood tests, as well as a blood sugar test. Everyone who passes the commission must be examined by a cardiologist, surgeon, neurologist. Additional studies may be prescribed for a severe form of the disease. So, the conclusion about the work of the adrenal glands is mandatory for those who have been taking drugs containing hormones for a long time.
After the results of the tests and examination of the doctors, you must again contact the therapist. He makes the necessary entries in the patient’s card, and then sends to the ITU. If there is disagreement between the doctor and the patient, then “at the request of the patient” will be indicated as the reason for the examination.
A medical examination takes place at the Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, where you must pre-register. At the reception, you should take your passport, referral to the commission and certificates from the clinic, compulsory medical insurance policy.
After studying the information provided, ITU experts will ask a number of questions about the quality of life, the characteristics of work, and well-being, after which they will either assign a disability group or make a negative decision. To challenge the results, you must contact the Main Bureau of the region, the next instance is the court.
Disability group for bronchial asthma
When determining the disability group, they are guided by the general state of health, the ability of a person to serve himself independently, the ability to work and interact with other members of society.
3rd group. With an average degree of the disease, group 3 is placed, which implies restrictions on work. This may be a shortened working day or contraindications to work in dusty, poorly ventilated areas.
2rd group. If the impairment of lung function has an average degree, group 2 is given. Indications are also hormonal disorders, malfunctions of the endocrine system, in the work of the kidneys and pancreas. Work is possible either remotely or with the organization of special conditions.
1rd group. In the presence of irreversible changes in the body, characteristic of a severe form of the disease, group 1 is established.
