Clear Aligner orthodontic appliances allow you to shorten the treatment time to a minimum. This solution is aimed at people who have malocclusion, but do not want to decide to put on a standard orthodontic appliance. What are the costs of patients who choose such a solution?
Clear Aligner braces are a new proposition in orthodontics. The great advantage of this solution is the aesthetics of the overlays because they are transparent. Their additional advantage is the availability in various sizes. These overlays are very hygienic and do not affect the patient’s speech.
What is Clear Aligner?
Clear Aligner braces are an interesting replacement for removable and fixed braces. These overlays are transparent and very comfortable to use. In addition, their high efficiency in a short time has been perfectly combined with aesthetics and wearing comfort.
The essence of orthodontic appliances is the pressure force, which gently, but gradually, allowed to change the position of the teeth. In traditional orthodontic appliances, these forces were exerted by wires and brackets, while in Clear Aligner overlays, this function is performed by special plates. These plates have three thicknesses: soft (0,5 mm), medium (0,625 mm) and hard (0,75 mm).
The forces exerted by them are additionally supported by elastic lifts and the so-called Power Grips that stick to the teeth.

What are the indications for the use of Clear Aligner braces?
Clear Aligner braces can be used in the case of diastema and severe tooth contusions. They are appreciated not only by patients but also by doctors who successfully use them to treat open, deep and cross bites. In addition, Clear Aligner appliances are also effective in the treatment of class II – posterior and class III – anterior defects. This appliance can also be used in the treatment of recurrent malocclusions that appear after the completion of treatment.
Before the doctor determines the treatment plan, he must conduct a thorough interview and diagnostics with the patient, which will allow him to make plaster models or X-ray pictures. On the basis of the collected information, the doctor may only decide on the next steps.

How long does Clear Aligner treatment take?
The duration of treatment with a Clear Aligner type appliance depends mainly on the type of malocclusion and the patient’s involvement. It is generally assumed that the treatment time is shorter in this case compared to a standard orthodontic appliance.
The patient’s sacrifice is an important factor. If he wears the aligners and follows his doctor’s instructions, it is possible to accurately determine the length of time to use it. Each of the aligners is worn for a week, while the splint is worn all week and around the clock. Importantly, the overlays do not fall off during sleep and are safe for the patient.
Treatment with the device can be divided into 3 stages, depending on the splint that was put in place, i.e. soft, medium and hard. After this time, go to the doctor who will evaluate the progress and take another impression of the teeth. On this basis, he receives another set of overlays for the next three weeks. The last stage is wearing a retention splint in order to maintain the obtained effect and stabilize the effect.

The cost of braces is very different and depends especially on the city, the experience and qualifications of the doctor and the competitiveness of the offer of a given orthodontic office. You need to pay about PLN 650 for three overlays. The price of one follow-up visit is about PLN 100. What are the side effects of using Clear Aligner?
Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of this solution. The main condition for starting treatment is 16 years of age. In addition, people using braces may develop an open side bite. However, this can be prevented by frequent check-ups, which allow the doctor to react in time and take appropriate steps.
Patients also report cases in which the apparatus causes discomfort and even pain in the temporomandibular joint. However, this only applies to the hard overlay.
Another side effect of wearing the hearing aid is lisp, especially when you start wearing the earpieces. It is worth remembering, however, that this condition passes when the patient gets used to wearing the overlay and the new conditions in the oral cavity.
It is also a good idea to remove the covers while eating as they may discolor.
