When it comes to a damaged plaster surface, prepare a putty (surface leveling material), a primer (a liquid composition applied before painting) and paint. The work is done using:
- 2 spatulas (small and large);
- grinding bar;
- emery cloth;
- roller and brushes;
- rubber gloves;
- bandages and goggles.
It is important not to forget to spread newspaper or plastic on furniture and floors. Observing the correct sequence of actions to restore the ceiling, you can qualitatively solve the problem.
How to remove yellow stains on the ceiling
The manipulations are carried out in 3 stages.
- Old yellowed plaster is removed. The damaged materials are carefully removed with a spatula. Particular attention is paid to the emerging fungus. The layer of plaster and putty underneath is removed by a few millimeters. The place wiped with a damp cloth is left to dry. Then a primer is applied (antifungal if necessary). If the stain is small, it is treated with a brush, in other cases a roller is needed.
- Putty is applied with a large spatula, leveled as much as possible and left to harden. Existing roughness is eliminated with emery cloths. At the same time, you should not neglect protective equipment for the eyes and respiratory tract. Re-priming completes the second stage of the process.
- The ceiling is painted with paint applied to the roller. The corners are painted over with a brush. The number of coats applied will depend on the uniformity of the resulting color. In the kitchen, it is recommended to paint the entire ceiling. The same recommendation is relevant if the renovation of the premises has not been carried out for a long time. Attempts to get rid of yellowness with detergents will not have the desired effect. Ultimately, you will have to carry out the above actions.
