The COVID-19 coronavirus attacks by entering the body through the upper respiratory tract. There is a group of people who are at risk because of a weakened immune system. Among them there are patients suffering from bronchial asthma. About how they can protect themselves against the coronavirus, we asked Dr. n. med. Tomasz Dzieśćtkowski, a virologist from the Medical University of Warsaw.
Although everyone can catch the COVID-19 coronavirus, there are people who are at risk. First of all, seniors should be mentioned here, because after the age of 60, the immune system weakens, thanks to which antibodies that can fight the coronavirus are produced. Besides, often the immune system does not respond properly due to comorbidities. These include, among others ischemic heart disease.
In addition, people who have diseases that affect the functioning of the respiratory system (e.g. asthma, lung cancer) are also at risk. Like all cancer patients.
