How can a selfie help with weight loss? |

For those who don’t know yet …

… the word selfie means a photo (most often taken with a phone, but it is not necessary – just usually the fastest and easiest) that we take by pointing the camera shutter at ourselves or at the mirror. In short, it is a modern form of self-portrait.

It can be quite strange to associate it with the word diet, considering that this word means a diet and in fact even the use of the term slimming diet is not entirely correct, because it is not just about reducing your body weight for some time and then finish your diet. We do not end up feeding, so our diets last as long as our lives.

As you can see, without any explanation, the words selfie diet can be associated with each other quite strangely. Don’t worry, however, no one will offer us to eat pictures, let alone a camera.

The selfie diet means …

… in fact, simply documenting your path to your goal (usually weight loss) by capturing it in the form of photography.

First of all, it is about before and after metamorphoses. In between, there may of course also be relationships with our weight loss milestones. It seems trivial, but it can really help us in the fight against extra pounds. Of course, we will not be slimmed down by taking pictures of ourselves, which is not! It is simply about the fact that only when we see ourselves from the side and we can take a closer look at ourselves can we determine what we want to work on in our appearance. We can’t cheat then either! In addition, in conjunction with progress control with weights and centimeters, the photographic record of the reduction will allow you to better archive your successive effects. Many people declare that such inconspicuous selfies helped them a lot in motivation, especially in moments of weakness.

Of course, in the pictures we can follow the progress, e.g. in training and, if it is helpful for us, photograph e.g. our healthy dishes and share them and recipes on the Internet. If we share our photos there, another idea can also be, for example, reports from training, walks or measuring clothes in the size you want – it really all depends on you!

The concept described today is based on …

… especially on you! On your plans, goals, dreams, and activities. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to share your photos on the web. You can easily keep them on your phone or computer only to yourself. Certainly, however, comparing the photo before the reduction and after achieving the goal will give you a lot of satisfaction, I assure you!

Everyone is tempted to eat something unhealthy. In such cases, peeking at your photos and realizing what the goal of your reduction is will help you overcome it.

A few more tips

Of course, the selfie diet is not a must – treat it as another option to control your effects, but if you don’t feel like it is for you, leave the camera off. However, if you are interested in this concept, here are some quick tips:

1. If possible, take a photo in the same clothes and in similar lighting, it will allow for a more reliable assessment of the effects,

2. You don’t have to take photos of yourself in underwear or a swimsuit, but the less clothes you wear and the more tight-fitting, the better you can see what you want to focus on.

3. Take photos standing in front of the mirror or sideways.

4. MOST IMPORTANT: after all, don’t really worry too much and don’t control your progress more than once a week (you can safely take pictures every 2-3 weeks). Even if we really care about reduction, we should not become obsessed and focus on the effects excessively. Be understanding and kind to yourself.

Finally: of course, that’s not all

As I mentioned before, just taking pictures of ourselves will not make us lose weight. The basis for the reduction is a correct and thoughtful caloric deficit and healthy eating. Selfie, on the other hand, can help us better assess our results, and for some it will be an additional dose of motivation. And what do you think about it? An interesting issue is form over content? We’d love to hear from you, write in the comments!
