How barre training helped me lose 5 kg

If you don’t like going to the gym, this workout will be a real salvation in the fight against extra pounds.

The Victoria’s Secret Angels, who stand out for their gorgeous bodies and steel abs, are big fans of the barre fitness industry. Inspired by their bodies and dreaming of losing the excess weight that I had mercilessly gained by eating delicious burgers and tons of chocolate, I decided that this type of activity would help me say goodbye to them. I don’t like going to the gym because I get bored of running on a treadmill, pedaling and lifting dumbbells. But group classes are what you need, because they are always fun, and if you can still feel all the muscles that you did not even know existed on them, it is great.

So, the training itself was created by a German ballerina who performed this set of exercises for rehabilitation after an accident. After some time this activity became known as barre. The workout is a mixture of ballet, Pilates and yoga, with some studios offering more ballet-focused classes. During classes, balls, weights and dumbbells are used.

After learning that Drew Barrymore lost 11 kilograms after training barre, I immediately signed up for the studio. I didn’t know what would be waiting for me, but I was eager to say goodbye to a thin layer of fat at the waist and in the buttocks.

So, the workout itself consists of a regular warm-up, which then turns into a very intense cardio endurance workout. Exercise jumping jet is replaced by squats, then jumping again, after the plank, and running in the plank – all this at such a pace that you can’t breathe. But at the same time, you feel how your muscles are being pumped.

The next step is to pump the biceps and triceps using 1 kg dumbbells. Firstly, all the exercises are done while sitting in a plié, and secondly, there are a lot of repetitions with dumbbells and half of them you do at the limit. In this complex, not only arms are involved, but also legs, buttocks and abdominal muscles.

Then we move on to pumping the buttocks and here the fun begins. Some exercises are done in front of a ballet barre and some on a rug. You begin to feel the gluteal muscles almost immediately, and the understanding that the buttocks have become like a nut comes on the last exercises, when you can no longer do anything.

Although the workout is considered static, calories are burned in the same way as cardio. After the first lesson, I came out a little alive, but I only thought that it was cool.

After a couple of workouts, my body became more toned, strong, elastic, I finally saw the abdominal muscles. It is best to do barre 2-3 times a week so as not to overload the body with training. After classes, I intuitively began to approach nutrition more consciously, and in my diet there was more light food, since there is no discomfort after it, and you feel lighter during training.

And now, a month of my active work has passed, on the scales instead of 55 kilograms – 50. I began to see abs cubes, and the buttocks are no worse than those of Emily Ratajkowski. It’s not for nothing that the models love barre so much.

Now I continue to go to training and I consider this type of activity to be the best. Of course, at first it will be a little difficult to get used to this pace, and it is not easy to maintain it, but for each workout I run with the feeling that I will now rest.
