  • on the aroma of fruit: ripe fruits are accompanied by the smell of turpentine, but if it seems suspicious to you, then refrain from buying;
  • on the size of the mango: some specimens reach 2 kg, and on average the weight of one exotic species fluctuates in the region of 200-300 g.

Buy ripe fruits if you want to taste them in the next 2-3 days. You can store mangoes for a long time until guests arrive, but then you need to choose unripe fruits that are hard to the touch.

How the fruit is stored depends on the original state of the mango. There may be the following options:

  1. Fresh mangoes that look ripe are stored in the kitchen for up to 5 days. However, here it is better not to risk it and put the fruit in a cool place, where the temperature will not be lower and not higher than 10 ° C.
  2. Unripe exotics can withstand up to 7 weeks at a temperature of 8 ° C and an air humidity of about 90%. To speed up the ripening process of the fruits, wrap them in paper, placing them in a dark place.
  3. Freeze the mango if you want to keep it in the refrigerator for 10 months. To do this, first cut the fruit into pieces or grate them with a grater. Then put everything in the freezer.
  4. Prepare a delicious treat by cutting the mango into pieces and placing them in the sun in a ventilated area. Then boil sugar syrup with them and dry the wedges in the oven at 40 ° C.
