How and how much yeast dough can be stored
A wide variety of pastries is prepared from yeast dough: bread, pies, buns. On store shelves, it is sold fresh and frozen. However, women often have the question of how much yeast dough can be stored at home. This is important for generous housewives who are used to kneading a large amount of mass. The shelf life of the test in this case depends on where it will be located. The product must be kept under certain conditions.
Can yeast dough be stored?
The prepared dough will lie in the refrigerator for about a day at a temperature of 5-8 ° C. Through a series of experiments, bakers have proven that it is quite possible to store a semi-finished product for a specified amount of time. Also, don’t be afraid to freeze food by listening to the following arguments:
- Flour and liquid are one of the main components of such a dough. Water or milk can be easily frozen. For flour, lowering the temperature is not terrible.
- Long-term exposure to ordinary cold on the dough is destructive. At low temperatures, the yeast fermentation process does not stop. As for freezing, then at this time they “fall asleep”.
- During prolonged storage in the freezer, the product hardens. To use the test, you must carefully remove it from this state. Then it will retain its original properties.
Culinary experts are guided by special recipes, which provide that the dough will be in the cold for some time. So you can safely knead it for future use.
How to store yeast dough in the freezer?
After placing the semi-finished product in the freezer, you can forget about it for 2-3 weeks. During this time, nothing will happen to the test. When freezing, divide it into portions, and then follow the instructions:
- Purchase a plastic container. Pour 3 drops of sunflower oil into it. Then put the yeast dough in there and put everything in the freezer.
- Puff pastry, intended for storage in the refrigerator, carefully wrap in plastic wrap and roll into a roll. So it will lie for a long time without drying out.
- Do not defrost or take food out of the refrigerator until you are ready to use it. It should not come into contact with warm air.
Remove the containers of dough when you are about to treat yourself and your family with fresh baked goods. Place the semi-finished product on the top shelf of the refrigerator in advance, and after 2 hours put everything on the table. Gradually the yeast will warm up and the dough will rise. In this case, do not crumple it, but immediately start rolling and sculpting culinary products.
