We try to make our work easier by buying all kinds of gadgets and cleaning products. And they sometimes turn out to be not only useless, but also harmful.
A mop that cleans the floor for you, a robot vacuum cleaner, a dishwasher are wonderful things, some of the best that mankind has invented to make housework easier. However, not all newfangled cleaning tricks are created equal. Some are simply wasted money. We have collected 5 of these “helpers” who only make the house dirtier, and not at all cleaner.
1. Dust broom
It does not collect dust, but lifts it into the air. Some part of the dust really remains on the panicle, but quite a lot of this muck just flies up and then falls back into place – in an even layer. Only the appearance of cleaning is created, from which the only noticeable effect is that it becomes harder to breathe due to the amount of dust in the air. It is better to put a humidifier and an air purifier, and the dust in the apartment will be noticeably less.
2. Vacuum cleaner for windows
It seems to wash the glass, but it leaves streaks. You still have to wash and grind by hand. Considering that a vacuum cleaner costs a lot, 5-7 thousand rubles, this is very insulting. It’s better to splurge on a regular window squeegee with a foam sponge and an elastic band-seal: thanks to the telescopic handle, it will reach everywhere, and it costs 10 times cheaper.
3. Mop
She, of course, relieves the back. But no matter how beautiful and trendy the mop is, it does not wash the floor very thoroughly – if we are not talking about an automated one. Ordinary, the one with a foam sponge or rope, smears dirt more in the corners than collects. After all, it is more difficult to rinse it than an ordinary rag, and it will not “look” into the corners. In our opinion, a mop is good if you wash a large area in the grandmother’s way: first wet it, and then wipe it dry.
4. Means for glasses and mirrors
No matter how convincingly the label “no stains” promises, they will still be there. Moreover, regardless of the cost of the product: the surface has to be polished until complete nervous exhaustion. In addition, for some reason, dust settles much faster on such funds. But car glass sprays work much better. And even better – sprays for cleaning optical surfaces: laptop screens, monitors, tablets and phones. It is enough to pshik on the mirror a couple of times, wipe it with a lint-free (this is important) rag – and everything shines. 5. Steam cleaner
First of all, this device is rather bulky, it takes up about the same amount of space as a vacuum cleaner. The steam cleaner is really good at cleaning the tile seams in the bathroom or scrubbing away old grease from the backsplash. But any cleaning product can handle the same. However, for allergy sufferers, this little thing can become irreplaceable: no household chemicals are needed with it. But the most important “but” – under the pressure of a jet of steam, dirt creeps in all directions, and then the surface will still have to be wiped off by hand. But you can eat from the floor after washing with a steam mop, it is so clean.
