Although the hotel business is now a $ 10 billion industry annually, staff still earn very little and still have to clean 14 to XNUMX rooms every day. Here are some of the things that the maids, by their own admission, do (or do not do) while on duty.
1. Beds
If you look at the bed in the hotel, it seems that the sheets and bedspreads are so clean that they just shine. However, this radiance is possibly a former spot. Responsible for so many rooms, the castellans simply do not have time to wash and dry all linen and blankets for each guest. This is hard, time-consuming work. Therefore, stains are removed with chemicals that leave a shine, and the laundry is almost never changed.
2. Bedbugs
These small insects are a big headache for the hotels where they live. First of all, ugly marks may remain on the skin of guests where they drank their blood at night. True, some hotel workers claim that the source of infection is the guests themselves, who bring them in their suitcases.
3. Toilet
Most people staying at a hotel assume that only they use the toilet they pay for. However, the maids are also people who regularly have natural needs, and there is catastrophically no time to run to the office. So, of course, when they clean the bathroom in the room, they use it when needed. But, being professionals in their field, they leave it in perfect condition.
4. Clothes
Guests of luxury hotels usually have high incomes and, accordingly, an excellent wardrobe. Little did they know that the staff responsible for the cleanliness of their rooms often succumb to the temptation to try on their expensive clothes from leading designers. In one extreme case, a lady staying at a cool hotel in Miami had several outfits and jewelry stolen by the concierge.
5. Bathroom
After reading this, you may never want to take a bath in a hotel again. According to the confessions on the Reddit site, all the maids found something disgusting there – from vegetables to the dead, as well as a lot of feces all over the place. When one of them found a whole toenail in the bathroom, she almost vomited. The worst thing, however, according to a study by the Journal of Microbiology, is that “the highest levels of contamination are found in the brushes and sponges that are used to clean these very tubs and sinks.”
6. Bedroom
Perhaps you are not the only one using the number. Sometimes the maids can take a nap on your bed, especially if it is a large apartment that takes a long time to clean. Although personnel are not allowed to do this, such things do happen quite often.
7. Towels
There are many complaints that the hotel towels are not clean enough. A maid at a five-star hotel in the Orlando resort admitted that if the staff is angry with a rude guest, she can wipe the toilet floor with a towel and then put it among the clean ones. Unfortunately, after checking out guests, hand towels are most often found on the floor in the living room next to the bed. So many advise, in order not to risk it, to bring them with you.
8. Lying to the rescue
Hotel staff must ensure that their guests have the most enjoyable stay in order to stay with them again. Therefore, they strive to create the illusion that everything is fine, even if the guest is unhappy. They may lie that all the numbers are the same (if the dissatisfaction is caused by the size or condition of the number). They should also apologize warmly, even if the guest is wrong, and always have a professional smile on their face, no matter how stressful they are.
