Hot Vanilla Cider – Photo Recipe

Winter has come, it has become cold … On such days, you want to brew fragrant tea, get under the covers, read your favorite books or watch old movies. But you have to run to work, freeze for hours in the office, make your way through crowds of passers-by who do not understand anything. And it’s great to come home after this madness, numb and tired, and drink something warming both body and soul …

Of course, tea and coffee do a good job with this task, at least with warming the body. But the soul needs to be warmed up with something more solid. Mulled wine or grog is good in this regard, but vanilla cider certainly has no equal in this. Let’s cook.

hot vanilla cider recipe

For 4 servings of a drink that warms the soul and body, we need:

  • 6 glasses of apple cider;
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of brown sugar;
  • 2 pcs. nutmeg;
  • 170 ml whiskey or bourbon;
  • 1 vanilla pod.

Instead of cider, which you can always make at home (the recipe for cider is here), you can use regular apple juice, but make sure it is unfiltered. Brown sugar, of course, can be replaced with regular sugar, but it’s better to hurry up and find a tropical sweetener in nearby supermarkets. Well, you can use absolutely any whiskey or bourbon, cheap bourbon will probably be even better. At worst, it can be replaced with fragrant rum or inexpensive brandy.

Prepare vanilla cider as follows

# 1.  First you need to cut the vanilla pod and remove all the seeds from there.

# 2. Then we put the vanilla pod, nutmeg and sugar in a medium-sized saucepan, add our cider there and cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring constantly.

# 3. Remove from heat and strain the finished drink through a strainer.

# 4. We add to all this, if there is a desire, bourbon or another alcoholic drink.

# 5.  Pour the vanilla cider into your favorite cups.

# 6. If you like, sprinkle the drink with grated nutmeg.

# 7. We enjoy life, that is … we climb under the covers, read our favorite book … In general, you understand.
