Contrary to appearances, spicy spices have a good effect on our entire body: they prevent infections, kill bacteria, protect against heart disease. However, not everyone can afford them, because in some cases their abuse can be harmful. What does it help with and what does it hurt?

It is true that not everyone can afford to eat spicy food. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of such a diet is the intensification of acne symptoms, which is why it is not recommended for teenagers struggling with this problem. It will also have an adverse effect on the skin of people with couperose skin, as well as those who struggle with digestive system problems, e.g. stomach ulcers. Spicy dishes, unfortunately, intensify some ailments, so in more sensitive people they can contribute to abdominal pain, heartburn, flatulence, and people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome are most exposed to unpleasant effects.

Spicy slimming. Capsaicin in the fight for a slim body

Another health fact about hot spices is that the capsaicin contained in them facilitates weight loss. Chili pepper is a real source of positive properties – it contains a lot of vitamin C, having the most of all vegetables, and the ingredients contained in it protect against many diseases:

  • Diabetes,
  • hypertension,
  • Sinusitis.

The organic compound contained in chili, which causes the characteristic spicy taste and at the same time has wide health properties, is capsaicin, which also causes the secretion of endorphins, i.e. happiness hormones. For people who care about the line, it will be important that it stimulates the stomach to produce digestive juices and supports the production of saliva, while accelerating metabolic processes. This is why chili contributes to burning more calories.

Capsaicin is found only in chilli, but also in Sichuan pepper, curry and black pepper.

Spicy on foreign holidays. Protect against bacteria

In addition to slimming and strengthening the body, spicy spices can help us avoid stomach problems. They will be very useful on tropical holidays, where sometimes local specialties can give you a stomach ache. Harsh additives kill many harmful strains of bacteria that can enter the body with food.

Garlic is definitely the healthiest spicy addition in Polish cuisine. Its health-promoting properties are amazing and it is difficult to overestimate them – it has antibacterial properties because it contains allicin, which is a natural antibiotic. In addition, it has minerals such as phosphorus, magnesium, iron and potassium, as well as B vitamins and vitamin C. It is used to treat catarrh, colds, sore throat and other infections, thins the blood and lowers cholesterol. In this case, “spicy” definitely means “healthy”!
