Hormonal changes in women affect their purchases

Scientists came to this conclusion after conducting a corresponding study.

Psychologists say women subconsciously tend to look more attractive during the time of the month when they are most likely to become pregnant. That is why they spend money on new things, mainly on jewelry, make-up products and high-heeled shoes.

Professor Karen Pine of the University of Hertfordshire argues that this behavior can also be explained by hormonal changes in the body during menstruation, affecting the part of the brain that is responsible for emotions and self-control.

The study involved 443 women aged 18 to 50 years. Nearly two-thirds of the 153 women who were late in their menstrual cycle admitted to making at least one purchase on impulse. Many of the women interviewed also reported that they later repented of their actions.

“Spending money is the body’s reaction to strong emotions. Women, when stressed or even depressed, go shopping to cheer up, ”says study author, University of Hertfordshire professor Karen Pine.
