Any drink becomes much more fragrant, softer and tastier if honey is added to it. Probably, many producers were covered by a wave of “honey novelties” and now store shelves are overflowing with these aromatic drinks based on whiskey, brandy and bourbon.
Of course, the easiest way is to go to the nearest supermarket and buy a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey, Jim Beam Honey, Metaxa Honey Shot or Drambuie.
But trust me, this homemade liqueur with an incredible honey taste and spicy aroma is not inferior to well-known brands.
Polish honey liqueur Krupnik
In this recipe, alcohol can be replaced with vodka. But the finished liquor will be very different, not only in strength, but also in taste.
You can also use 2-3 sachets of vanilla sugar instead of the vanilla pod.
Ingredients
Alcohol (95%) – 500 ml
Honey – 500 g
Water – 400 ml
Carnation – 5 buds
Star anise – 1 pcs.
Bean vanilla – 1 pc.
Cinnamon stick – 1 pc.
Cardamom – 3 pcs.
Soda – 1/5 tsp
Dried mint – 1 tsp
Ginger – to taste
Method of preparation
To begin with, we need to mix water, honey and all spices, including soda, in a saucepan.
Then boil the fragrant mixture over low heat for about 30 minutes, not forgetting to stir and remove the foam. In order for honey not to start releasing carcinogens, it is important to monitor the heating temperature, which should not exceed 60 degrees.
After cooling the spicy honey syrup, mix it with alcohol and pour into a suitable glass container. Let it stand for 2-3 days in a cool place.
After the specified time, filter the liquor, and then filter and bottle.
Before tasting, the drink must be aged for at least two months, but it is better to stretch this stage for 1-2 years. During this time, the drink will completely lighten up and a cloudy precipitate will fall to the bottom.
The strength of the finished honey liquor is about 40 degrees.
Damburi honey liqueur based on Chivas Regal
The original Scottish liqueur is made on the basis of 12-year-old Chivas, but this is an expensive pleasure and you can replace it with any other blend.
Of course, the exact composition and proportions of spices and spices are kept in the strictest confidence, but we will make a knight’s move and add only rosemary. And the home version of the famous Drambuie will play in a new way.
Ingredients
Chivas Regal – 700 мл
Heather honey – 240 g
Rosemary – 1 tsp (dried – 0,25 tsp)
Method of preparation
Grind rosemary, pour into a jar and pour whiskey. Leave at room temperature for 1-2 days.
Then the fragrant tincture must be thoroughly filtered through a fine strainer.
Now add honey and shake well. We leave for 1-2 days so that the sediment completely settles to the bottom.
Then carefully drain the honey liquor from the sediment and pass it through the filter.
Pour the drink into a bottle and let it brew for as long as possible.
Drambuie honey liqueur based on Johnny Walker Black Label
Of course, this is also not the cheapest option, but it is closer to the original taste of the drink.
This recipe was developed by the Americans, but again, to save a little, you can take the classic Red Label.
Ingredients
Whiskey Black Label – 750 ml
Liquid honey – 350 ml
Lemon zest – 2 strips of 5 cm
Crushed dill seeds – 1/4 tsp
Dried angelica root – 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Method of preparation
In a glass container, mix all the ingredients and leave at room temperature for 14 days. For the first 24 hours, the drink must be stirred intensively several times.
Two days later, we take out the lemon zest from the container and continue to infuse the drink in a dark place until the expiration date.
After 2 weeks, the liquor must be filtered and bottled.
Now the most difficult stage – exposure. It is advisable to stretch it for at least six months.
Honey liqueur with herbs
Ingredients
Alcohol 96% – 250 ml
Flower honey – 250 ml
Water – 250 ml
Mint – 1 tbsp.
Melissa – 1 tbsp. l
Thyme – 1 tbsp.
St. John’s wort – 1 twig small
Soda – 0,5 tsp.
Method of preparation
The cooking technology completely repeats all the points from the first recipe.
Simple honey liqueur
Ingredients
Water – 1 liters of water
Alcohol – 500 ml
Honey – 1 kg
Fresh lemon – 1 pc.
Method of preparation
Quickly scald and rub the lemon peel with a clean towel.
Cut the peel from the lemon, pour alcohol, let it brew.
Boil water, pour in honey and cook on low heat for 4 hours, removing the foam.
Remove from heat and cool to room temperature, mix with alcohol and put in a warm place for 14-15 days.
Strain the finished drink, pour into bottles, close tightly and leave for 150-180 days before drinking.
