Homework: how to choose furniture for a student

For a student, whether he is a first grader or a “seasoned” high school student, it is very important to properly organize the workplace. Indeed, in a comfortable environment, new knowledge is acquired better.

“Today the school is the first grade like an institute” – once this “Song of a first grader” by Alla Pugacheva was perceived as a joke. But modern children at school have to master a huge amount of knowledge. And they spend much more time preparing their homework than their parents once did. In order for the mood to be correct, and the study argued, it is necessary to competently organize the student’s workplace.

Ideal when the child’s “study” is located by the window. Natural lighting, as you know, is preferable to artificial light, and it is also useful to give rest to your eyes, from time to time looking at the houses and trees outside the window. If this is not possible, you will have to take care of sufficient artificial lighting of the workplace.

In the furniture center “Bogatyr” a wide selection of various children’s furniture is presented. But how to understand this variety of models and choose not only beautiful, but also comfortable and safe furniture?

Quality of materials

Choose furniture made from environmentally friendly materials – wood, plywood, veneer. The coating – paint, varnish, oil – must also have a safe base. The fewer the angles, the better. Sharp edges should be smoothed out with special protective pads. Roughness and other defects are unacceptable.

Matching the child’s height

To prevent the development of scoliosis, the table and chair must be appropriate for the student’s height. If the child’s height is less than 115 cm, the table should be 45-50 cm high. Every 10 cm of height add 5 cm to the height of the table. Heading out in search of the perfect table without grabbing a roulette wheel? Have your child sit down at the table with their back straight and elbows on the tabletop. If at the same time he reaches with his index finger to the outer corner of the eye – the height of the table is optimal.

The size of the countertop matters too. The best option is 120×70 cm, this will allow you to place on the work surface not only a textbook and a notebook, but also a pencil case, a diary, a computer monitor and a lot of other items necessary for homework.

The chair is equally important for the formation of correct posture. It is better to buy a comfortable working chair with adjustable seat height and back position and without armrests.

Functionality

For the correct organization of the student’s workspace, a table and a chair are not enough. The child needs to put a backpack somewhere, lay out books and stationery. It is good when the desk comes complete with a bedside table – side or built-in, as well as additional shelves for books and notebooks. If there are none, you will have to purchase bookshelves or shelves.

Please note: storage systems must be at a height accessible to the child. A first grader is able to get a textbook or notebook if the shelf is located at a height of up to 140 cm, at 8-9 years old – already 150-160 cm.

The rectangular model is a classic. For a compact room, it is better to choose a table with a bottom shelf and side one-sided drawers. A corner model is suitable for organizing a workplace in a small children’s room. Indeed, in this case, an unclaimed space in the room will be occupied.

If you plan to use a desk during the entire period of study (from 1st to 11th grade), it is better to choose a transforming table. In such a model, you can adjust the height, size and inclination of the table top. Very comfortably!

A wall or a modular design, in which the desk is supplemented with compartments for storing books and notebooks, there are secretaries with a hinged lid or a built-in additional table top, will significantly save space.

Modular system, combining all the necessary furniture – a sleeping place, shelves for toys and clothes, and a study area, is also an excellent solution. In addition, furniture in the same style allows the child to form an aesthetic taste.
