Homemade watermelon liqueur with vanilla flavor

Any watermelon is about 90% water, because of this feature it is difficult to make a watermelon liqueur with a pronounced aroma and persistent taste. It is desirable to add another flavor, in our case vanilla. It will turn out a dessert drink with a pleasant smell of summer.

To make liquor, you need sweet ripe watermelons. Use only red flesh without white parts. The best alcohol base is vodka or ethyl alcohol diluted to 40-45%. A well-cleaned moonshine without a sharp smell of fuselage is also suitable. Adjust the proportions of sugar to your liking.

Ingredients:

  • watermelon juice – 600 ml;
  • vodka – 400 ml;
  • sugar – 150 gram;
  • vanilla sugar – 20 grams.

1. Remove the pulp from the half of the watermelon, remove the seeds, then squeeze the juice. This can be done with a juicer or by pushing through a thick cloth or gauze.

2. Mix watermelon juice and sugar in a saucepan. Boil for 15 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly, do not bring to a boil. Boiling will evaporate some of the liquid, making the flavor richer.

3. Add vanilla sugar, wait until the syrup cools to room temperature, pour in vodka, mix.

4. Pour the drink into bottles, seal tightly.

5. Keep for 7-10 days in a dark cool place, shake once a day.

6. If the homemade watermelon liqueur is cloudy, filter it through cotton wool. Drink chilled. Store in the basement or refrigerator, shelf life 3-4 years.
