Homemade vodka with strawberry flavor

Homemade strawberry vodka turns out to be transparent and is remembered for its characteristic berry aroma with hints of strawberries in the aftertaste. Unlike store-bought counterparts, the drink will be natural – without synthetic flavors. For cooking, at least the simplest distiller (moonshine still) is required.

Suitable ripe strawberries of any variety. Particular attention should be paid to the aroma of berries – the richer it is, the better, so homemade strawberries are the best option.

As an alcohol base, you can take vodka, diluted alcohol, high-quality double-distilled moonshine (odorless) or gin (will give light notes of juniper). It is not advisable to use aged alcohol, because after distillation the exposure tone will disappear.

strawberry vodka recipe

Ingredients:

  • vodka (alcohol 40-45%, moonshine) – 1 l;
  • fresh strawberries – 0,5 kg.

Technology of preparation

1. Wash the strawberries, remove the stalks, cut the berries into 4 parts and put them in a glass jar for infusion.

2. Pour in the alcohol base (should completely cover the berries), mix.

3. Close hermetically, put for 14 days in a dark place at room temperature. Shake every 2-3 days.

4. Strain the finished strawberry infusion through 2-3 layers of gauze. Squeeze the pulp dry.

5. Dilute the tincture with water up to 18-20% (add 1,2 liters of water for each liter), then distill in a conventional moonshine still (distiller).

If possible, it is advisable to place the strawberry pulp in a steamer (fill a maximum of a third of the volume of the jar so that the tubes do not clog) or hang it on gauze in a cube so that the pulp does not come into contact with the liquid, but only enriches the rising vapors of alcohol. Distilling unfiltered tincture is dangerous, strawberry residues can burn, spoiling the aroma and taste of the drink.

6. If vodka or alcohol is used as an alcohol base, the head fraction can be omitted; in the case of moonshine, it is desirable to collect the first 15-20 ml of output per 1 liter of absolute alcohol and pour it out. Finish the selection when the strength in the jet drops below 40% or collect the “tails” in a separate container.

7. Dilute the finished strawberry vodka with water to a drinking strength of 40-45% vol., pour into a glass container and close tightly. Before tasting, leave in the refrigerator for 3-4 days to stabilize the taste. Shelf-life Unlimited.

If you dilute the distillate not with water, but with sugar syrup (mix sugar and water in equal proportions, boil, boil for 2-3 minutes over low heat, removing the foam, then cool to room temperature), then instead of vodka you will get a transparent strawberry liqueur, the strength of which can be regulate at your discretion.
