Homemade soda: video recipe

Not so long ago, soda made from glass flasks in a recreation park, a vending machine or in glass bottles was a real celebration of taste. It was considered special chic to have a siphon for carbonating water at home. Who doesn’t want to remember their gastronomic past again and share it with their child? Now a large number of all kinds of carbonated drinks are presented on store shelves, but their composition and taste leave much to be desired. Try making delicious homemade soda yourself.

In order to make soda at home, you will need: – a carbon dioxide bottle; – a siphon for carbonating water; – dry ice or regular ice cubes; – a cooler with a carbonation function; – lemon juice or syrup; – rosehip infusion or any berry / fruit juice; – a little soda; – sugar and citric acid.

How to make soda with a siphon or cooler

Soda the water using an old siphon. The water in it turns into a fizzy due to the flow of carbon dioxide into it under pressure. In old siphons, this process takes approximately 20-30 minutes. If you have kept the device since Soviet times, purchase a gas canister from a gun store. Consult with the seller in advance: as a rule, such cans fit Soviet siphons for soda.

Get a modern siphon. Simpler devices carbonate the water for 20 minutes. Devices for carbonating water differ in different degrees of carbonation, and a set of syrups can also be attached to them. If you wish, you can also purchase different flavored syrups for carbonating your water. The principle of operation of modern siphons is very simple. Pour plain cold water into the bottle and place it in the machine. Make it sparkling with a light press of a lever or button. Add syrup and stir. The soda is ready!

Instead of syrup, you can add jam or fruit and berry juice to the finished drink

You can make lemonade based on ready-made soda. To do this, dissolve 50 tbsp in 1 g of lemon juice. sugar (based on 1/2 liter of water). Pour the resulting syrup into a fizzy drink and then add a piece of ice. You can also chill soda in the refrigerator. You can also make a soda with rosehip infusion. This drink is distinguished by lush foam and original taste. And besides, it is useful.

Alternatively, instead of a siphon, you can use a water cooler with a carbonation function. With it, ordinary tap water quickly turns into a real soda. But such a device is quite expensive. In addition, this unit will purify water, heat it or cool it. As a rule, the gas cylinder included in its kit lasts for a long time.

How to make a simple soda or lemonade

Make a simple soda. To do this, mix 2,5 grams of citric acid and soda in one glass of water, add 5 grams of sugar and a small amount of syrup. Instead of citric acid, soda and sugar can be stirred in 200 grams of a mixture of water and lemon juice (in a 2: 1 ratio). When the alkali reacts with the acid and the first gas bubbles appear, put an ice cube in a glass and drink the prepared lemonade.

Never touch dry ice with hands to avoid injury due to very low temperature

Dry ice can be used to carbonate the water. This is a rather exotic option for making homemade soda, since it is very difficult to get this product. If you bought a small amount of dry ice, you should not put it in the refrigerator – it needs special storage conditions. Begin to carbonate the water immediately. To do this, fill a 1 liter jar with water and syrup and put a small cube of dry ice there.

If all of the above options for carbonating water did not work for you, make regular homemade lemonade. To do this, purchase quality soda water in a bottle and add lemon juice with sugar or syrup to it. Put a piece of ice in a glass with the resulting lemonade.
