Proponents of homemade recipes see the benefits of use of soda. On the other hand, whitening is limited only to the surface, and incompetent, repeated attempts may end up wearing off part of the enamel. There are studies that show that whitening toothpastes with the addition of soda restore whiteness more effectively than those that are deprived of it.

Soda and alternatives

Not only using soda, the abuse of any bleaching products can bring deplorable results, such as tooth and gum sensitivityor weakened tooth structure, damaged enamel. Excessive good intentions and efforts lead to the opposite result, namely discoloration. Not everyone is ready to spend a significant amount of money on whitening at the dentist. With moderation, you can at least try one of our grandmothers’ recipes.

How to whiten teeth with baking soda?

Tricks for home teeth whitening should be repeated once a week, the last method presented – even less often.

  • The most popular way for home whitening is probably a preparation made of 2 teaspoons of soda and 2-3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide – we choose the amount so that the mixture has the consistency of hand cream. We can add a bit of paste if the taste bothers us. After a few minutes of brushing, use a regular toothpaste.

  • We thoroughly crush the strawberry with half a teaspoon of baking soda. Leave the paste on your teeth for 5 minutes, then brush your teeth with regular toothpaste. The malic acid present in these red fruits makes it easier to remove discoloration.

  • Half a teaspoon of baking soda, we can also combine it with a bit of lemon juice, which we add so that the mass has a consistency similar to cream. The effect of soda with lemon is particularly strong, we finish it with ordinary toothpaste.

What can’t you forget?

The use of baking soda is the least burden on the pocket, but you should not reach for this ingredient too often. Unfortunately, overzealousness is unlikely to end successfully. People from weak enamel, have to decide for themselves whether it would not be safer to reach for a whitening toothpaste, which happens to contain soda, but in a low concentration. To prolong the whitening effect, we should eliminate such drinks as cola, coffee or black tea, because they largely take away the whiteness of the teeth.
