Traditional rum is obtained by distillation of waste products from the production of cane sugar. Naturally, for the majority of Russians it is difficult to get this raw material. Therefore, we will not prepare rum, but a substitute based on available ingredients. The smell and taste of the tincture is almost identical to the original drink. Problems can only arise with essences, which, most likely, are not in your apartment. But the necessary aromatic additives are sold everywhere – in supermarkets or via the Internet.
Ingredients:
- vodka (alcohol 40-45%, moonshine) – 1 liter;
- sugar – 200 gram;
- water – 500 ml;
- rum essence – 50 ml;
- vanilla and pineapple essences – 10 ml each;
- burnt sugar – 4 teaspoons.

1. Mix sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly.
2. After complete dissolution of sugar, remove from heat and add pre-prepared burnt sugar to the syrup.
3. In a separate bowl, mix vodka with essences.
4. After the sugar syrup has cooled to room temperature, pour the vodka mixture into it and mix.
5. Pour the rum into bottles, close tightly with corks. Insist for a month in a dark place.
6. Strain the drink through several layers of gauze and cotton wool, this is enough for complete cleaning.
