Homemade peppercorns with honey

Traditional Russian pepper is famous not only for its excellent burning taste, but also for its healing effect. It is difficult to find a suitable natural product in stores; in most cases, flavored drinks are sold. This problem is solvable, we will look at how to make peppercorns at home. The recipe is simple and the ingredients are accessible to everyone.

Vodka or ethyl alcohol (40-45%) can be replaced with good moonshine (necessarily without an unpleasant odor). Try to choose buckwheat or flower liquid honey for tincture, which precipitates less and better softens the taste of the alcohol base.

Ingredients:

  • vodka (alcohol, moonshine) – 0,5 liters;
  • red pepper – 1 pod;
  • black peppercorns – 4-7 peas;
  • honey – 3 tablespoons;
  • cloves – 3 pieces.

Pepper recipe

1. Pour vodka into a liter jar, put cloves, pepper and honey.

It is believed that before infusion, honey should be diluted in warm water or heated vodka. I do not recommend doing this, because even after slight heating, honey loses most of its beneficial properties.

2. Stir, tightly close the jar with a lid, put for 5 days in a dark place at room temperature. Shake the contents of the jar once a day for the first 3 days.

3. Filter the finished homemade peppercorns through a thick cloth or gauze. Pour the drink into storage bottles. In a place protected from direct sunlight, the shelf life is up to 3 years. Fortress 34-36 degrees.

Filtered ingredients can be reused, you just need to add a few tablespoons of honey along with new vodka. I recommend increasing the infusion time to 7 days.

The resulting homemade peppercorns will differ in color from the store. The fact is that a dye is added to the factory tinctures, which gives the drink a presentation. The taste is about the same as that of vodka with pepper produced by Nemiroff.

How to drink peppercorns

If it is customary to cool ordinary vodka, then pepper is served at room temperature. As an appetizer, hot meat dishes and fried potatoes are suitable. The tincture warms and increases appetite. It is especially good to drink in cold weather.

Attention! Pepper is a rather spicy alcoholic drink, so it is important not to overdo it with the use. People suffering from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver should be very careful. Peppers can also be used as a means of preventing colds.
