Hot wine is not only delicious, but in moderation is a healthy drink that helps in the treatment and prevention of many viral diseases. There is a special recipe for mulled wine for colds, repeatedly tested in practice. The composition includes only natural ingredients.
Remember that mulled wine helps well only in the early stages of the disease. If the disease is advanced, hot wine is no longer so effective. Next, we will consider a recipe that is most adapted for the treatment of colds, acute respiratory infections and sore throats. In other words, part of the taste of the drink is sacrificed for its beneficial properties.
Ingredients:
- red wine – 0,7 liters (1 bottle);
- honey – 3 tablespoons;
- lemon – 1 half;
- sour apple – 1 piece;
- ginger – 3 pieces;
- carnation – 6 buds;
- cinnamon – 1 stick;
- cardamom – 2 pieces;
- nutmeg – 0,5 teaspoon;
- black pepper – 4 peas.
For the preparation of medicinal mulled wine, any red wine is suitable, ideally dry. Exposure and strength do not matter. If one or more spices are not present, it’s okay, mulled wine from a cold will work without them, just the healing effect of the drink will be a little lower. Apples are also optional, as they are more needed for taste.
Recipe
1. Apple and half a lemon (with zest) cut into small slices.
2. Add spices to the wine: ginger, cloves, pepper, cardamom and cinnamon. Mix well.
3. On medium heat, heat the wine to 70-75°C, stirring constantly.
The mixture should not be brought to a boil, otherwise the mulled wine will lose some of its medicinal properties and will not be as tasty.
4. Remove the pan from the heat, cover tightly with a lid and let it brew for 30 minutes.
5. Add apples and lemon, stir, then infuse for another 10 minutes.
6. Filter the drink through several layers of gauze.
7. Ready-made homemade mulled wine is best taken hot (you can warm it up on the stove) before going to bed in small sips. Drink no more at a time
250-300 ml.
Mulled wine is contraindicated in people suffering from hypertension, cardiovascular disease, stomach ulcers and other digestive disorders. Also, hot wine is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
