homemade melon liqueur recipe

Most melons are eaten fresh, as they quickly deteriorate after being harvested. For those wishing to preserve the unique aroma of these fruits for a long time, I advise you to make homemade melon liqueur. There are no rare ingredients in the drink recipe, and the preparation technology itself is very simple.

Juicy ripe melons of any variety are suitable for liquor. You can also take home grown on your own plot. In many cases, they are even better than their purchased counterparts, since they do not contain nitrates and other chemical additives.

Ingredients:

  • ripe melon – 2 kg;
  • vodka (moonshine, diluted alcohol, cognac) – 1 liter;
  • sugar – 300 grams.

The alcohol base can be chosen at your discretion. A very interesting result is obtained by combining melon with cognac. The easiest option is to add quality vodka.

Recipe

1. Peel the melon from the peel and stones, cut the flesh into small pieces.

2. Put the pieces in a glass jar and pour vodka or other alcohol. Vodka should cover the melon by 3-5 centimeters.

3. Close the jar tightly with a lid and put it in a dark, warm place for 7-10 days (optimal temperature is 20-25°C).

4. Filter the resulting tincture of vodka on melon through 2-3 layers of gauze, drain into a separate container and close the lid.

5. Add sugar to a jar with melon pieces, close and put in a dark, warm place for 5 days (until the sugar is completely dissolved).

6. Filter the syrup through gauze, then mix it with vodka infused with melon.

7. Place a bottle of liquor in a cool, dark place for 1-2 days. Then filter again through cotton wool. Homemade melon liqueur is ready. It has a characteristic fragrant aroma and sweet taste of ripe melon. I recommend serving it as a dessert drink. In a refrigerator or cellar, liquor can be stored for more than a year.
