Homemade mask for facial skin like after care in a beauty salon

Four steps that turn a face mask into a full-fledged spa treatment – the complexion instantly improves, and the skin is smoothed, as after a visit to a beautician.

“An hour of sleep improves the condition of the skin without the help of cosmetics,” my favorite cosmetologist Tatyana once told me, to whom I regularly went all my university years. These golden words came to my mind during a recent trip to Germany for the production of the Weleda brand. Local cosmetologist Ulrike Nann spent half an hour with me each day, designated in the busy schedule as Refreshment Break (literally “refreshing break”). Instead of drinks and snacks, which I expected to see, she shared knowledge on how to get the same results from home cosmetics as from a visit to a beauty salon. I was immediately convinced that Ulrike’s recommendations were working. These simple steps will turn your face mask into a complete spa treatment.

Step 1 Turn on the music. Instrumental or foreign performers: familiar words prevent us from completely relaxing. Classical, jazz or your favorite meditation playlist, the choice is yours. It is better to turn off the phone, TV, computer and other means of communication with the outside world. Don’t worry, it’s only 15 minutes.

Step 2. Make a compress for the neck and shoulders. A warm, damp towel instantly relaxes tense muscles and improves oxygen supply to the brain. Heat a towel in a double boiler, microwave, or soak in hot water. For a more tangible effect, drop a little essential oil on it. In the evening it can be soothing geranium or lavender, in the morning and in the middle of the day – any citrus. However, in the heat, you can, on the contrary, cool the towel in ice water and use refreshing peppermint oil. The effect will be the same.

Step 3. Close your eyes and breathe. Once you’ve applied the face mask, sit back and place wet cotton pads on your eyelids. It is good to use an eye cream before that, so that they get their portion of beauty. Take a few deep breaths through your nose – they should feel like sighs of relief. This helps to free your mind from thoughts and focus on your feelings, on what is happening here and now. Repeat this breathing exercise from time to time as needed.

Step 4. Do a self-massage. After 10-20 minutes, press a wet hot towel to your face, wait a minute and remove the face mask with it, moving from the center to the periphery. Use a toner to remove any leftover product. Apply the cream and do a light massage. Stroke your chin and cheeks diagonally in upward strokes from your mouth and nose to your ears and temples. Stroke your forehead from bottom to top. Finally, drum on the skin with your fingers. Now look in the mirror to appreciate the result!
