Homemade flowers in pots: tips for care
Have you been presented with a flower in a pot? Learn how to care for it to prolong flowering and what to do to help it bloom next time.
Home flowers in pots
rose flower
The best place for a miniature rose pot is a sunny window. Just make sure that the plant is not too hot: the rose does not tolerate overheating well – so spray it and do not be afraid to ventilate the room (the rose calmly tolerates significant temperature fluctuations). Make sure that the soil in the pot does not dry out.
In addition to abundant watering, the rose needs regular feeding: during the period of active growth – from early spring to autumn – the plant will have to be fertilized at least once a week. In summer, it is best to send a pot with a plant to the balcony or garden – the rose will feel great in the fresh air.

Anthurium
Loves warmth and bright, diffused light. Without the sun, the leaves will begin to shrink and the flowers will become dull. However, anthurium does not tolerate direct sunlight, as well as drafts and waterlogging of the soil – the roots quickly rot.
One of the main conditions for the “well-being” of this tropical plant is very humid air. So you will have to spray anthurium at least 2 times a day.

Guzmania
A thermophilic plant from the bromeliad family. It is best to place it on western windows, shading from direct sunlight. Guzmania is watered with well-settled water directly into the rosette of leaves (when watering into the ground, the weak root system of all bromeliads quickly decays). In summer, you need to ensure that there is always water in the leaf funnel.
Guzmania bloom lasts about 2 months, after which the mother plant stops growing. A dried peduncle must be cut out and wait until “babies” are formed on the mother plant. After a couple of months, the matured young plants are separated with part of the root and planted in new pots. In about a year, the young guzmania will bloom.

Cyclamen
This is an excellent “long-lasting” gift: after all, the flowering of cyclamen can last up to 3,5 months, and the plant, with proper care, will live up to 25 years. Cyclamen is photophilous, but not enough to expose it to direct sunlight. The ideal place is at the northern windows. He does not like the heat either – he hardly tolerates the air temperature above +17 ° C. During the heating season, often spray the air around the plant and never pour water on the top of the tuber – the plant can rot. During the dormant period, when all the leaves die off, the tubers, without digging, are stored in a cool, dark place.

A surprise gift, and not a very pleasant one. According to statistics, approximately 50% of purchased blooming azaleas die. This plant is not suitable for keeping in a warm apartment. The guarantee of long blooming of azaleas is bright light, coolness (temperature not higher than +15 ° С), constant humidity of the earth and air. Lucky for those who have not yet acquired double-glazed windows – the azalea will feel best between the window frames (you just need to make sure that the night temperature does not drop below +8 ° C). We advise all owners of double-glazed windows to fight (to the last): remove the flower away from the hot battery, place the pot on a pallet with wet pebbles and immerse the pot in a container of water several times a week until it is completely saturated. Spray blooming azalea often with a spray bottle in micro mode – brown spots form on the leaves from large droplets.
- Indoor plants for the lazy
Flowering bulbous plants in pots – hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, crocuses – are one of the most springtime gifts. To prolong flowering, place the flower pot in the coolest room. Wait until spring – and plant faded bulbs in your summer cottage – there is a chance that they will take root and in a year will delight you with new flowers.
