The time of winter holidays and two-week school holidays is fast approaching. Many families choose to spend this time actively. Whether you’re sending your child to winter camps or going skiing with the whole family, we’ve got a must-have list for you. A well-stocked suitcase and a first aid kit are things that will save you a lot of unnecessary stress and make you feel that you are prepared for anything!
In addition to warm sweaters, woolen socks and raincoats, our bag should also have the right medicines. Remember not to pack at the last minute, because in a hurry we can skip many important things, such as refilling the first aid kit.
To make packing easier, it’s a good idea to prepare a list of what you need to take for yourself and your children a few days before your trip. Thanks to such a schedule and proper planning, packing will go much more efficiently. In addition, we will have time to buy the necessary things.
For motion sickness
Even if no one in the household suffers from problems with driving a car, it is worth having this type of means with you. It may turn out that on longer or more bumpy routes someone will get motion sickness. In addition, it is worth remembering that children are especially vulnerable to these types of symptoms. Their nervous system is not yet sufficiently developed, and as a result a long, fast or stressful journey can cause nausea and vomiting, as well as dizziness and weakness. Medicines of this type can also be taken prophylactically, especially if we are dealing with an airplane or a ship, i.e. means of communication that are used rather rarely. In addition, the child should have access to a bottle of still water, as well as disposable bags (in case of vomiting) and peppermint or ginger lozenges.
For wounds and bruises
Skiing, snowboarding, hiking and any other physical activity can result in various injuries. We are talking here about minor bruises and injuries, when it is worth having with you:
- Saline,
- Scissors and a safety pin,
- Bandage,
- A set of plasters,
- elastic band,
- hydrogen peroxide,
- Ointment for superficial abrasions and bruises.
In addition, take a rescue blanket that will prevent the body from cooling down, and calcium to help in case of allergies.
For stomach problems
The first-aid kit must also contain indigestion remedies, i.e. traditional mint drops, as well as anti-diarrheal drugs. Traveling to exotic places often results in stomach problems. They can also be affected by climate change, a long journey or eating previously unfamiliar foods. Of course, each of the preparations should be adjusted depending on the age of individual family members. Also, equip yourself with probiotics, i.e. preparations used to replenish water and electrolytes, which will prove useful in the event of diarrhea or vomiting. It’s also a good idea to pack chamomile to drink.
For colds and flu
Winter madness can also end up catching an infection. Here the most important will be:
- Thermometer,
- Vitamin C,
- antipyretics,
- Painkillers.
