We often forget about proper hair protection in the summer. We protect the skin, but not the hair. And they are more susceptible to the harmful effects of any external factors. How to take care of your hair in the summer so that it is not dry, brittle, damaged and dull in the fall? There are a few simple ways to do this.
- the easiest way is to cover your hair, hide it under a hat, scarf or cap – when it is not exposed to sunlight, it will be healthier
- hair cosmetics with filters – currently we can choose from a wide range of cosmetics with hair filters. In addition to filters, cosmetics of this type additionally contain moisturizing, nourishing and regenerating ingredients, such as ceramides, vitamins A, B, E, F, H, jojoba oil, marine collagen or macadamia oil.
- spray mist – it’s worth having it on hand and spraying it on your hair during the day, then it won’t dry out so quickly
- avoid exposing wet hair to the sun – wet hair exposed to the sun is damaged much faster, so after getting out of the water, wait in the shade or under an umbrella until your hair dries. They should also not be wrung out of the water – when they are wet, their scales open and it is easy to damage them. After drying, it is best to clip hair, especially long hair – the smaller their surface will be exposed to the sun, the better for them.
- do not dye your hair – dyed hair is weakened and therefore more susceptible to damage. It is also not advisable to lighten the hair. Both treatments dry the hair, which will be less resistant to UV rays. As a result, they will be destroyed. In addition, the new color will fade quickly in the sun, so for the effect to be durable and the hair healthy, it is worth waiting until autumn with dyeing
After returning from the beach
When we return from the beach, remember to wash your hair and scalp thoroughly (preferably with a “summer” shampoo with filters). Then apply a regenerating conditioner to your hair. You should use warm water to wash your hair, because then you will thoroughly remove grease and leftovers from cosmetics. However, the final rinse should be done with cool water – it will close the open hair cuticles at the end, limiting damage. If we spend the whole day at the beach, remember that washing your hair should be very thorough, at least 2 times after returning home. In addition, it is worth applying a hair mask 2-3 times a week. We will achieve the best results using shampoo, conditioner and mask from the same line of one manufacturer.
Diet for hair
We can also take care of our hair from the inside out. Therefore, let’s eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. A good solution are light salads with the addition of a sauce based on olive oil or linseed oil, which will provide unsaturated fatty acids.
