Rum Higuana is a versatile “cocktail” option. This drink does not have such a pronounced taste as the rum of famous brands, but that is why Iguana is suitable for any cocktails. Quality and affordable price are two reasons why the demand for the brand is constantly growing. Rum is exported to 25 countries, mainly to the states of the post-Soviet space, China and Eastern Europe.
The inscription on the label of the Higuana bottle reads: Ron de Caribe (“Caribbean Rum”). The information is true: the company buys rum spirits of various aging periods in Barbados, where they are made from molasses using Cuban technology. The drink is mixed and bottled at the Spanish company Vittone 1842 Slu, owned by one of the subsidiaries of the Polini Group.
Historical reference. The Italian group of companies Polini Distillates & Beverages, established in 1968, produces more than 500 types of spirits. The marketing policy of the company is aimed at covering the widest possible range of consumers. The assortment of Polini Group includes both premium brands and alcohol of the middle price category. All products are of high quality, which is confirmed by the certificates of the International Food Production Standard (IFS) and the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
Expensive rum, aged for many years in special barrels according to a complex system, is good as a digestif (alcohol after a meal): in a cocktail, the taste features are smoothed out. The company’s blenders specially created Higuana as a rum for parties, when cocktails flow like water and there is no time to listen to the exquisite flavors of the drink. The main thing in such cases is that the rum meets international food safety standards, and Higuana satisfies these requirements.
Higuana rum has been exported to Russia since 2013. Experts, however, note that alcohol notes are felt even in the smell and taste of a 7-year-old drink. But among cocktail lovers, this rum is extremely popular.
Types of Roma Iguana
There are 4 varieties of Higuana rum:
- Higuana Silver Dry Ron is a young rum, colorless and transparent, with a strength of 38%. The taste is dry, slightly sharp, with light licorice-pear undertones. The drink is suitable for any cocktails, can be mixed with apple juice;
- Higuana Añejo 5 Años Ron – golden-colored rum (38%), aged 5 years, with a fruity aroma;
- Higuana Añejo Reserva 7 Años Ron is an amber-colored rum (38%), aged 7 years with a caramel-fruity aroma. The taste is dominated by notes of overripe tropical fruits and molasses, followed by pepper bitterness in a short aftertaste. The drink leaves almost no “tears” on the walls of the glass, characteristic of aged rum. Pairs well with tea and coffee;
- Higuana Añejo 5 Años Elixir is an old amber colored rum (34%), a mixture of rum spirits aged up to 5 years. The taste is spicy and sweet, reminiscent of the taste of liquor.
