Hiconcil is a beta-lactam antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial diseases. Hiconcil is in the form of a powder, which after proper preparation is a suspension, it is also available in the form of capsules. The drug has a wide range of applications. How should Hiconcil be dosed? Can everyone use the drug? What side effects may occur during treatment with the drug?
Hiconcil – application
The main active substance of the drug is amoxicillin, which is a semi-synthetic penicillin with a wide spectrum of action. Due to its structure, amoxicillin is classified as a beta-lactam antibiotic. The mechanism of action of all beta-lactam antibiotics is to block the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which first leads to weakening and, consequently, death of the bacterial cell.
Hiconcil can be used both in adults and in children, in diseases caused by pathogens sensitive to beta-lactam. Before starting the treatment, the doctor should order control tests, namely nasal culture and throat swab, it is necessary due to the need to determine what type of bacteria caused the ailment and whether it is a bacterium sensitive to the active substance of the drug, i.e. amoxicillin. In what diseases is the use of the drug indicated?
- community acquired pneumonia
- acute sinusitis
- typhoid and paratyphoid fever
- acute streptococcal tonsillitis
- infections associated with prosthetic joints
- acute pharyngitis
- acute pyelonephritis
- for the prevention of endocarditis
- Lyme disease
- acute otitis media
- to remove Helicobacter pylori
- acute cystitis
- periodontal abscess with spreading cellulitis
- salmonelloza

Hiconcil must be dosed as prescribed by the doctor. It is also worth reading the recommendations contained in the package leaflet of the drug.
Hiconcil – precautions
Before starting treatment with Hiconcil, it is necessary to inform the doctor about any allergy or hypersensitivity to amoxicillin or any other component of the drug, because the use of penicillin in treatment may lead to severe side effects, and in rare cases to death. The risk of side effects is increased in patients with atopic conditions or other types of allergies.
In patients diagnosed with kidney disease, the doctor should prescribe the correct dosage and frequency of administration. The recommended doses should not be exceeded, if you miss one dose, do not double the next one. When the patient notices erythema or pustules during the treatment, he will feel itchy, it is necessary to consult a specialist. Unfortunately, with longer antibiotic therapy, bacteria and fungi resistant to the ingredients of the antibiotic may multiply, in such a situation the doctor should decide to introduce a substitute.
Before use, read the leaflet, which contains indications, contraindications, data on side effects and dosage as well as information on the use of the medicinal product, or consult your doctor or pharmacist, as each drug used improperly is a threat to your life or health.
