Herself vs the master: makeup in the office

The editors are testing their abilities for a working make-up – first we paint ourselves, and then we compare it with the work of a makeup artist.

What could be easier than putting on makeup in the morning for work, we think, and are almost always mistaken. Not every girl is capable of impartially evaluating her own image. The editorial staff of Wday.ru is conducting an experiment – we came to work with our usual makeup, and then the professionals finalized it, along the way telling about the features of the office beauty world. Stylist Elizaveta Bakieva and makeup artist Taisiya Abel from G. Bar helped us figure out where we intuitively choose the right colors and textures, and what we do wrong.

– I always knew that I could hardly do the same perfect makeup as a make-up specialist. However, I was sure that my knowledge and skills are enough to portray something very decent on my face. It seems that I was very much mistaken. Just a few waves of the magic wand, and I turned into a completely different person.

About makeup:

Eyebrows – for some reason it always seemed to me that I made them too wide. It turned out, on the contrary, I did not make my eyebrows large and expressive enough.

Eyes – I didn’t like to paint them. I always thought the best thing to do was to simply highlight them by tinting the eyelashes with mascara. Failure again! Judging by the photo “after”, I need to use unobtrusive shadows, especially around the edges of the eyes from the outside. They become visually larger and more attractive.

Cheeks – and why did I decide that the red blush is mine? My shade is more pink and delicate.

lips – the only thing that I did not lose. All shades of Marsala suit me very much.

What else? Concealer and highlighter – all this is in my cosmetic bag, but, as it seems to me now, also not quite suitable tones …

About the hairstyle:

My ideal option is straight hair with razor-perfect edges. But for some reason, the usual shampooing and straightening them while drying with a hairdryer was not enough this time.

The master slightly lifted my hair on top of my head and straightened it with irons. Judge the result for yourself!

– I am an adherent of minimalistic makeup. I almost never paint for work. Eyebrow shadows and mascara are my maximum. The reason lies not only in the banal lack of time and in the love of naturalness. To be honest, I just don’t know how to properly apply makeup.

About makeup:

Eyebrows – I really like to dye eyebrows and emphasize their natural density. True, it is not always possible to put their shape in order on their own. I just brightened my eyebrows with a pencil or shadows, but the makeup artist managed not only to highlight them, but also to bring them to a common denominator.

Tone – I don’t like tonal means. Any foundation or BB cream always feels like a mask on the face. Although the way the master evened out the tone, I liked it. The bruises under the eyes and redness disappeared – the skin became porcelain. True, I would not wish my skin to wear such makeup every day.

Eyes – I’ve never had a problem with eye makeup. I know how to highlight their beauty. The same makeup seemed to me too bright for everyday work.

About the hairstyle:

– With hair and creating hairstyles, I always have a disaster. The most I can do is dry my head and comb or make a bun. The hair stylist has created a stunning low bun with braids on my head. The hairstyle turned out to be moderately voluminous, interesting and at the same time laconic.

– I welcome bright makeup only when it comes to an evening event. In the office, “war paint” will look out of place, therefore, putting myself in order in the morning, I try not to let my imagination run wild! To prepare a daily look, I only use mascara, eyebrow shadows and apply tone. This, in my opinion, is quite enough …

About makeup:

Eyebrows – now they are not in their best shape … Recently I realized that the best shape of eyebrows is natural, and decided to try growing. In the mornings, I have to compare with shadows the boundaries between the main line of the eyebrows and the hairs that grow below. After applying makeup, the form suits me perfectly, even the makeup artist praised my work and did not change anything.

Eyes – but as for the eyes, then they conjured over me properly. I asked to focus on them and got a brown smoky ice. It turned out excellently, I myself rarely succeed in achieving such a result, although at home I like to practice in front of the mirror. But again, I repeat that I think this makeup for the office is too bright.

Tone – lately I have been constantly using foundation, I apply it on the skin quite a bit, mainly in order to hide dark circles under the eyes and slightly even out the tone. In my opinion, the makeup artist overdid it, there was a feeling of a mask on her face, which I was eager to take off as soon as possible.

Cheekbones – I use a golden tone, I love how it matches the color of my eyes. Here the makeup artist was right.

Lips – I love nude lipsticks or sheer gloss. In rare cases, I use red lipsticks – always matte. But the beige color, as it turned out, suits me perfectly!

About the hairstyle:

– Basically, I prefer to walk with straight hair, although it costs me a lot of work, because by nature my hair is wavy and fluffy. Therefore, I first pull them out with a hairdryer, and then I iron them. If I have time, I do a little comb with a small comb and hairspray. This is exactly what the stylist did to me.

– In fact, I try not to paint brightly, preferring to highlight only the eyebrows and highlighting the eyelashes with black mascara. Even lipstick I use very rarely, choosing a colorless gloss or natural shades. In addition, I just feel sorry for wasting time on all these beauty manipulations, especially when half an hour is left before work. What kind of highlighter and blush is there ?!

About makeup:

Eyebrows – it always seemed to me that I draw them more or less neatly and symmetrically. The master, of course, praised my form, but she did her bit. As a result, they began to look natural (and did not resemble tattooing, which, by the way, is no longer in fashion), and the whole image became softer and more harmonious.

Cheeks – blush? What for?! No, I, of course, like to emphasize the tan, but here we are talking more about bronzers, which I gently shade on the cheekbones. The master chose a different shade for me – soft pink – and it fit perfectly.

lips – I repeat that I hardly use lipstick or choose neutral natural shades. I was offered to focus on the lips and try on a cold berry shade. It’s amazing how one stroke can change the whole image.

About the hairstyle:

– I have very thin hair that has gone through a lot in this life. Therefore, I try not to injure them once again, refusing styling, a hot hair dryer and irons. In addition, by nature they are fluffy and curly, so I decided to choose naturalness.
