Heparegen – composition, action, dosage, indications, side effects

Heparegen – what kind of drug is it?

Heparegene is a drug containing the active ingredient thiazolidine carboxylic acid. It supports the breakdown of toxic compounds, thus protecting the liver parenchyma against the damaging effects of bacterial, viral and industrial toxins, drugs and alcohol. It stimulates the secretion of bile by the liver.

Heparegen is used as an adjunct in acute and chronic liver diseases of various origins and in toxic liver damage caused by alcohol, drugs or chemicals.

1 tablet of Heparegen contains 100 mg of thiazolidine carboxylic acid (Timonacicum). The drug consists of the following auxiliary substances:

1. Lactose monohydrate,
2. Microcrystalline cellulose,
3. Corn starch,
4. talking,
5. Colloidal anhydrous silica,
6. Magnesium stearate.

Heparegen – action

The thiazolidine carboxylic acid, which is the active ingredient of Heparegen, is metabolized in the liver to N-formylcysteine, which contains a free -SH group. Free SH groups provide hydrogen necessary for the reduction and inactivation processes of many active and toxic metabolites formed in the liver from endogenous and exogenous compounds.

Thiazolidine carboxylic acid protects the liver parenchyma against the damaging effects of bacterial, viral and industrial toxins, drugs and alcohol. It also works cholagogue.

Heparegen – dosage

Always use Heparegen exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are unsure.

1. Dosage of Heparegen – adults

Initially 200 mg (2 tablets) 2 or 3 times a day. Then, after the acute symptoms have subsided, the dose may be reduced to 100 mg (1 tablet) twice a day.

1. Dosage of Heparegen – children and adolescents

Children over 15 years of age: initially 200 mg (2 tablets) 2 or 3 times a day. Then, after the acute symptoms have subsided, the dose may be reduced to 100 mg (1 tablet) twice a day.

Children aged 6-15 years: 50 mg (1/2 tablet) per 10 kg of body weight per day in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Children under 6 years of age: Heparegen is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age.

Heparegen – contraindications and precautions

Before taking Heparegen, tell your doctor about all the doctor and supplements you are taking.

If a woman is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks she may be pregnant or is planning to have a baby, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Heparegen should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the lack of safety data.

The main contraindication in taking Heparegen is hypersensitivity to thiazolidine carboxylic acid or to any of the excipients of the drug. Heparegen contains lactose. People with rare galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Heparegen – overdose

If you take more than the prescribed dose of Heparegen, immediately contact your doctor or pharmacist. If you take more than the recommended dose of Heparegen, there is a risk of changes in the central nervous system. Children are at greater risk because the drug can more easily cross the blood-brain barrier.

Status epilepticus (a life-threatening condition where the patient experiences continuous seizures for more than 15 minutes, or a series of seizures between which the patient does not regain consciousness) and coma may develop 60-30 minutes after ingesting an overdose by mouth. Central disturbances last up to several weeks or even months. Hearing impairment and deafness can also occur.

Heparegen – side effects

Undesirable effects may occur during treatment with Heparegen. In rare cases, there are e.g. side effects such as skin allergic reactions, gastrointestinal disorders.

Taking Heparegen does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Treatment with the preparation does not reduce psychophysical efficiency.
