Henna tattoo: how long does it last on the body? Video
Henna tattooing has been known for several centuries. In the countries of the East, magical qualities were attributed to body designs. Currently, in North Africa, India, the Middle East, there is still a tradition to decorate the body with such a painting on holidays. The fashion for this tattoo has come to other countries of the world.
Features of henna tattoos
Such a tattoo has many more advantages over permanent tattoos:
- the procedure is painless
- its cost is much lower
- since the tattoo is temporary, you can change the place of application and the drawing itself
Most often, plant ornaments, zodiac signs, hieroglyphs, “bracelets” on the wrists and ankles are painted with henna. The paint made from it is quite persistent, the drawing stays on the body for about three weeks (on the legs and arms), on the body – no more than one and a half weeks. It depends on the composition of the paste, the correct application of the pattern and the characteristics of the skin. It is unlikely that you will be able to wash off an unsuccessful tattoo; you can only speed up this process a little by frequent washing and using scrubs.
In rare cases, an allergy may occur to henna paint.
To make the drawing last longer, protect it from water on the first day. In the future, do not use skin scrubs and do not overdo it with detergents at the tattoo site.
How to get a henna tattoo at home
This tattoo can be done at home.
To make henna paste you will need:
- a plastic bottle from under nasal or eye drops (“Naphthyzin” or “Galazolin”)
- henna
- toothpick
- lemon juice
- sugar (on the tip of a knife)
- 2 drops of eucalyptus oil
- 1-2 drops of lavender or tea tree oil (optional)
Pour henna into the bottle, it should be half full. Add lemon juice to it in small portions, stirring the mixture all the time with a toothpick. The finished paste should have the consistency of a very thick mashed potato. Close the bottle and place it in a warm, dark place for 12-24 hours.
Add sugar, essential oil to the mixture, mix everything. The paste should have the consistency of toothpaste. If it turns out to be liquid, add a little henna to it, if thick – lemon juice. Close the bottle and place it back in a warm, dark place for 12-24 hours. The drawing made with such a paste will be reddish-brown in color.
Henna paste should be stored in the refrigerator for two weeks, in the freezer for two months
To get a henna tattoo, pick up a drawing and print it. Attach a transparent paper file or tracing paper to the sheet. Circle the drawing with a ballpoint pen, the outline should be quite clear. Degrease the skin with an alcohol-based lotion at the site of the intended tattoo and dry it. Then brush it with deodorant gel. Apply tracing paper with a pattern to the skin and, pressing firmly, hold for a few seconds. A sketch of the future tattoo will remain on the skin.
Squeeze the required amount of pasta onto a saucer. Take a little paste with a toothpick, place it on the contour and distribute it over the drawing with pendulum movements (left-right). The thickness of the lines should be 0,5–1 mm. Wait a while for the drawing to dry. The paint on the skin needs to be kept for quite a long time – up to a day. Then gently scrape off the henna, you cannot rinse it off. Lubricate the tattoo with eucalyptus oil and / or lemon juice. At first, the tattoo will be light red, within two days it will darken.
